Dwain Beesley

1942 – 2020

Mr. Dwain Beesley of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Linda Beesley passed away at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Dwain is survived by his loving wife of 56 yrs., Linda, daughters Danette Beesley and Deane (Kevin) Christiansen. Grandchildren Ryan Doram and Jordan Doram. He is also survived by his brothers Bob Beesley, Alan (Jo-Ann) Beesley and sister Donna Odell (Ronald MacKenzie).

He was predeceased by his mother Nancy and sister Sharon.

At Dwain’s request, he will be privately remembered by family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Steed for his recent care of Dwain.We would also like to thank Dr. A. Low and the staff of the Heart Function/Device Clinic at Chinook Regional, for all their help and care.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Vincent Luykenaar for his care and kindness in looking after Dwain over the last 20 years. A special thank you to Dr. Walsh and nurse Alex of the Palliative Care Team, for their exceptional care and attention to Dwain and the family, the last few days.

CLELAND

Surrounded by her family, Phyllis Jean Cleland passed away peacefully on September 24, 2020.

Jean was born on March 19, 1924 to Wes and Eudora Thomas at Fishburn District, Pincher Creek. She was raised in Utopia area with 1 brother Bob, and 4 sisters, Bessie Halton, Shirley Mitchell, Audrey Gross and Grace Fitzpatrick.

She went to school in the Utopia District and then to Pincher Creek High for later grades. Then on to Normal school in Calgary for teaching. She taught school up north in Barrhead area and then back to Halifax district and Robert Kerr district. In 1946 Jean went to Calgary for music lessons and began her journey of teaching music.

She met Ralph Cleland at a dance in Pincher Creek and so it began. They were married on October 11, 1947. Ralph & Jean farmed and raised 6 children in the Cowley, Fishburn, and Robert Kerr area before moving to town in 1956 and started a carpenter business Cleland Contracting and a trailer park, Clelands Trailer Park.

Married 65 years, they raised 6 children Garry (Ruth), Bev MacPherson, Lorne (Faye), Kathy Lunn, Connie Firth and Gayle Lepard (Todd). The family tree grew with 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her special friend Ken Nodge of Vista Village.

Jean’s love of music involved playing and singing for the senior choir at the United Church for many many years, she played weddings, funerals, sing songs at Crestview Lodge and Vista Village.

She enjoyed playing cards, camping and golf trips with friends and relatives and lead a busy life in retirement with Ralph. Later in retirement, Ralph & Jean resided at Vista Village until their passing.

Family was very important in her life so as a devoted mother and friend, she will be dearly missed.

Predeceased by husband Ralph, daughter Bev, daughter-in-law Sue, grandson McKay Lepard, son-in-laws Bob Firth and Doug Lunn.

Service will be announced at a later date.

NORMA ELLEN DUNCAN

1927-2020

Norma Ellen Duncan, 93, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2020. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ross Roy Duncan; son Robert Roy Duncan; father Joseph Hartley; mother Sarah (Murray) Furgason; sisters Lucille (Harry) Closson, Joliene Chipman and brother Ken Furgason. After her first love passed, Norma was blessed by the love of two other amazing men who she was married to until their respective passing’s, Syd Witham and Elton Duell.

Norma is survived by her son, Terry (Lynette) Duncan; daughter in law Jo Anne Duncan; brother Danny (Sandy) Furgason; brother in law Hal Chipman; sister in law Barb Furgason and her grandchildren, Brianne (Ben) Grinter, Derek (Meipsy) Shackleford, Ashley (Ken) Harvie, Robert (Tina) Duncan and Tyler (Susan) Duncan; great-grandchildren Andrew, Luke, Jackson, Addison, Ryder, Abigail, Mia, Cameron and Freya. Norma is also survived by her very close friend of many years Deb Duncan.

Norma spent many years working for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and was recognized for her length of service with them. Norma was a charismatic and popular lady. She was generous with her love and friendship and was known for her great sense of humour and love of dancing. She also loved to travel, particularly to Hawaii and was known to enjoy a good Mai Tai. In her later years, she loved to reminisce about her younger days by watching reruns of Lawrence Welk and telling stories from her long and well-lived life.

The family wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Cedar Creek Adaptacare and to the hospital staff at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the Archmount Cemetery, 2710 Westside Drive W, Lethbridge, Alberta.

BARBARA JEAN HEGGIE, beloved wife of Marc Heggie, passed away peacefully at the Raymond Health Centre on Tuesday September 29, 2020 at the age of 69 years. Lillian Lina Leith

1922 – 2020

Mrs. Lillian Leith of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Allan Leith, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 97 years.

Lillian was born near Didsbury, Alberta to Garnet and Ethel Tighe. She was raised on the family farm east of Didsbury. She attended a country school and also attended school in Carbon, Alberta. She then went to work in a store for a period of time.

She met Allan, who was working on a threshing crew at her father’s farm. They married, moved to Iverness Que. to farm where Elaine was born. Several years later they moved back to Alberta to Arrowwood to work for Canada Land. They transitioned to Vauxhall to work for the P.F.R.A. in 1951 where Barry was born.

Lillian was a home-maker and mother first. She loved her garden and was an active in the Parkview United Church as a UCW volunteer and C.G.I.T leader. She took part in a number of community events. They moved to Travers with the Alberta Provincial Government until retirement, returning to Vauxhall.

They took several trips which included a trip to Australia and two across Canada. There were also lots of family camping trips. They eventually moved to Lethbridge in their reclining years.

Lillian is survived by her two children Elaine (Darrell) Slauenwhite, Barry (Eileen) Leith; grandchildren Michael (Joy), Jennifer (David) Hodge, Patrick (Heather); great-granchildren Joshua Leith, Danika, Xander Hodge, Rylee Hodge, Harrison Leith; brother Ken (Eileen) Tighe and sister-in-law Audrey Leith.

Due to recent restrictions surrounding COVID-19, a public celebration of Lillian’s life will be held at a later date.

A private family graveside service will take place in the Archmount Cemetery.

Brenda Gail Rauschenberger

1958 – 2020

Brenda Rauschenberger (Ellis) of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the age of 62 years.

Brenda is survived by her sister Sandra (Terry) Earl; brother Barry (Tammy) Ellis; nephew Steven (Debbie) Ellis; niece Chelsea Ellis and great-niece Brynlee (Steven and Debbie)

Brenda was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on September 24, 1958 and was the eldest child to Shirley and Ray Ellis. After moving to Lethbridge in 1969, Brenda attended school in Lethbridge; then, after graduating from Winston Churchill High School she began her career in Calgary taking Management and Administrative training.

Brenda’s career spanned 35 years providing customer service working at Dr. Chilton’s office, City of Calgary Police Service, Attorney General, Sheriff’s Office and a 14 year fulfilling career at Canadian Airlines. Brenda loved to travel and took advantage of flight passes which enabled her to fly “home” from Calgary regularly to visit family.

Life-long friends were made at work, and together they shared travel to many tropical resorts, and cruised to Alaska.

Brenda dearly loved her kitty Sarah, they were inseparable. Brenda was heartbroken when Sarah passed on, after 18 years together. She had a big heart for animals large and small.

Brenda loved to visit with family and friends, spending as much time as possible with her nephew and niece when they were young doing crafts, playing games and having a fun time together. Brenda also enjoyed swimming, camping and fishing.

Brenda was pre-deceased by her parents Shirley and Ray Ellis; grandparents Annie and George Polivka, Isabelle and Earl Ellis; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memories of Brenda will be treasured in our hearts forever. She was kind hearted, brave and generous, and will be missed by all those who knew her.

DOREEN RED YOUNG MAN

Kind, caring, and a heart full of motherly-love are a few words that describe Doreen Red Young Man who passed away at the Pincher Creek Health Care Centre on September 28, 2020, at the age of 70 years.

The Prayer Service will be held on Monday, October 5, at 10:00 am at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, followed by a two-day wake service at Stanley & Doreen Pard’s residence on Piikani Nation.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at 1:00 pm, at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel with Bishop Sidney Black officiating. Interment to follow at Piikani Nation Cemetery in Brocket.

Due to current gathering restrictions, only 50 participants may attend the Funeral Service and 100 participants may attend any outdoor gatherings with social distancing strongly encouraged.
