Horst “Harry” Busse

1938 – 2020

Mr. Horst “Harry” Busse of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Ilona Busse, passed away suddenly at Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the age of 82 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 1/2 years, Ilona Busse, three daughters Diann Fender (David), Peggy Busse, and Carol Busse; grandsons Kai and Sam; eldest sister Marga Jaegli of Westlock, AB; youngest sister Christa Van Ee of Vauxhall, AB; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Friedrich and Frieda Busse of Vauxhall, AB.

Harry enjoyed fishing, coffee with friends, a “sweet tooth” with his friends and collecting unique curios from his travels. He was a longstanding member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 50 years. He took pride in “running crane”, and worked on numerous oil and gas construction projects throughout AB. Before retiring at 64, Harry finished his last “gig” on the oil sands in Fort Mac, AB. In addition to this, he also worked as an independent gravel truck operator.

Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish memorial donations may be made to the Lethbridge and District Humane Society, 2920 16 Ave N, Lethbridge, AB T1H 5E9.

Due to current Alberta guidelines regarding COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Goulding, Penny Elizabeth

Penny Goulding (nee Heinonen) of Spruce Grove, AB passed away from cancer on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the age of 63 years.

Penny is survived by her loving spouse Perry Franks, mother Helen, siblings – Rhonda (Conrad), Leonard, Susan (Stephen), plus niece and nephews – Crystal, Kevin and Eric.

She is also survived by Perry’s family – children Dale, Lindsay and Shelby (5 grandchildren), mother Simone (Shorty), siblings – Joe (Arlene), Bev (Clayton), Audrey (Larry), Barb (Grant), Darlene (Ron), Wally (Trudy), plus numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Leo Heinonen and Sister-in-law Bev.

Penny loved dogs and had several over the years, leaving her latest fur baby Harley with Perry. After changing careers several times, she found her calling selling Gold Canyon candles. Her favorite Farmer’s Markets were at Leduc and Wetaskiwin, where she made many friends. She missed them once she could not go anymore.

GERARD HOLMES

July 1, 1953 – December 15, 2020

Gerard Henry Holmes, of Coaldale, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 67 years.

A private family service was held in Archmount Cemetery.

PAYNE

Keith Leonard Payne, beloved husband of Priscilla Payne passed away on Saturday December 19th, 2020 after a very short but intrusive bout with cancer.

Keith was born on Sept. 5, 1941 to Leonard and Naida Payne. He was the 2nd of 5 sons.

He is survived by his wife Priscilla, children Bruce, Michael (Jack), Clark (Dana), Susan (Sean) Clarke, Lori (Bob) Wood and Jeff (Laura), and his 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 4 brothers, Glenroy, Nolan, Gary, and Brent.

Keith was born in Lethbridge and spent his life in Southern Alberta. He was raised on a farm and enjoyed the outdoors. He worked in Sales the majority of his career and later owned the Pro Hardware in Cardston. He loved his family and was very supportive of their many activities. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous capacities. Once he retired, Keith and Priscilla spent the winters for about 12 years in Mesa Arizona, where he made many friendships from Canada and the US.

Keith will be missed by his family and friends who knew him.
