Soai Cam Lee

October 15, 1964 – April 27, 2021

Soai Cam Lee of Lethbridge, beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on April 27, 2021 at the age of 56 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cam is survived by her mother Lang Lam; husband Evans Lee; children Vanessa (Ryan Squire) Lee, Alvin Lee, and Vivianna Lee; siblings Lien La, Mai Trinh, Na La, Van La, Debbie Lam, and Allien Lavienan; grandchildren Olivia Squire and Oaklynn Squire; and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her father Hong La and sister Muoi Huynh.

Cam was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on October 15, 1964, but spent the majority of her childhood in Vietnam. In 1981, she immigrated to Canada with four of her sisters. Cam made her home in Lethbridge, Alberta where she met and married her husband and raised their three children. Cam worked at the Lilydale Hatchery and then Canadian Linen and Uniform Services where she made many friends. She was an exceptionally hard worker and was very dedicated to her job.

Cam enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She loved sharing her cooking, singing with her granddaughters, and tending to her numerous plants. Cam was a homebody but did take pleasure in making trips to Calgary and Kelowna to visit family, shop, and try new foods. A lesson Cam has taught us is that there is always room for dessert.

Cam’s compassion for others, strength and determination, generous heart, and infectious laughter will always be remembered. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

A special thank you to her family physician, Dr. Susan Westheuser, her palliative care physician, Dr. Hollis Roth, and the palliative care and home care nurses for their extraordinary care and support.

Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A private family funeral service will be held.
