Mitchell “Mitch” Ball

1973 – 2021

Mitch Ball of Coaldale, beloved husband of Jana Ball, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the age of 47 years.

Mitch is the cherished father of Colton (Bryn) Ball, Bailey (Blake) Bullock, Halle Ball, Brett Ball, Macey Ball and Margo Ball. He is survived by his parents Sheldon & Brenda Ball; 4 siblings as well as many extended family members.

Friends meet the family on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. Deboer, Wilhelmina “Wilma”

Johanna nee Williamson

1959 – 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma who was a great sister, friend and community member.

She is predeceased by her father Arie Williamson in 1984, her mother Maria in 1987 and her husband Dirk Deboer in 1998.

She is survived by her brother John Williamson.

Wilma was born in Fort McLeod. She went to school in various places like Granum, Dorothy Gooder School in Lethbridge. She also went to school in Red Deer.

Approximately 30 years ago, she moved to the Stony Plain area and was supported by Rehoboth Christian Ministries.

Wilma was a very friendlily lady who would talk to anyone who would lend her their ear. She loved animals and would greet every animal she met. Wilma had a cat named “Spook” (the name fit) who was her companion for many years. Wilma will be sadly missed by her family, friends and her community. A special thanks to all of her friends at Rehoboth Christian Ministries. A place where she was loved and cared for. Many thanks to the Hospital staff in the Covid ICU at the Misericordia Hospital for their care of Wilma in her last days. Wilma is now in a better place resting with her Lord.

A funeral service will be held at the Granum Christian Reformed (CRC) at a later date. Due to Covid restrictions, the service will be videoed and available for viewing after the service has taken place on the Granum CRC Youtube.

Mrs. Maria “Mary” Eichendorf of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Walter Eichendorf, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the age of 93 years.

HANKINSON

1923 – 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Reverend LAWRENCE “LARRY” DUNN HANKINSON on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the age of 97 years. Dad was born in Bothwell, Ontario on August 25, 1923.

Dad, Grandpa & Great-Grandpa will be lovingly remembered by his children: Laurie Scott, Shawn Hankinson, Colleen Hankinson (Grant Odegard), Tanya Hankinson (Blaine Huisman); grandchildren: April (Andrew) Labbe, Jeffrey Scott, Nicholas Scott, Kyle Hankinson; and great-grandchildren: Lorenzo, Orlando, Niomi and Niall. He is also survived by his sisters: Lois Kearns of Chatham, Ont and Pat (John) Duralia of Windsor, Ont.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Frances, in 2014.

A private family remembrance celebration will be held a later date.

RICHARDSON

May 6, 1924 – April 25, 2021

Ralph Rulon Richardson was joyfully re-united with the love of his life, Ethel Marcia Richardson, on April 25, 2021. He was also greeted by his three children who predeceased him: Gerald, Diana and Kim.

Ralph was also predeceased by six brothers and some of their wives, Richard, Ernie, Clarence & Marge, Calvin & Peg, Melvin and Gary & Jean; his sister May and her husband GR Clifton, and his sister-in-law Marie Richardson. A son-in-law Arnold Braconnier as well as a grandson Jothan Braconnier, granddaughter Kimberly and a grandson William.

Left to cherish the memories of Ralph are his brother, Carl Richardson, his children Gonny (Ger), Donna Braconnier, Mary Ellen Toker (Ron), Lyla Armas (Sam), Richard, Lisa Canada (Andy) and Carolyn whom he raised as his own. Ralph also has 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Ralph served his country during World War II along with three of his brothers. (All came home) He taught by example; caring for others, hard work, love of life and importance of family (even if you weren’t his own). All who knew Ralph would recognize the twinkle in his eye when mischief was afoot.

Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Words cannot express the appreciation our family have for the staff at Prairie Ridge Good Samaritans in Raymond for the loving care and respect that was demonstrated in their interactions with our father.

Joyce Thomas

1928 – 2021

Joyce Henrietta Thomas beloved wife of William Thomas, passed on April 28, 2021, at Fairmont Extendicare, following a lengthy illness at the age of 92.

Joyce Brooks was born on June 22, 1928 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and was raised with her six siblings in Grassy Lake Alberta. Her parents, Fred Brooks and Sara Peach (came to Canada) from Selston, Nottinghamshire, England.

Joyce attended Grassy Lake School and was very athletic especially in baseball. After her older sister Ann married and moved to Warner, Joyce also moved to Warner and while working in Reid’s Hardware store, she met Bill Thomas and they eventually married on January 4, 1947 In Medicine Hat. As stated by Bill, “she was a loving woman and a wonderful wife and mother”.

Bill and Joyce raised four children: Bob (Marilyn), Barry (Betty Jo), Linda (Len) and Keith (Alicia). Joyce was predeceased by Barry (2003). As well, Bill and Joyce have 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Joyce was happiest when she was entertaining family, neighbors or friends and always made sure they were well taken care of. She was a great cook, an artistic home decorator and had a lovely singing voice. Joyce sang with the Warner Evangelical Church Choir and was a soloist at many weddings. Her other interests included sewing, quilting, and gardening. She belonged to the Eastern Star and the Order of Royal Purple.

Even as her health declined, Joyce never complained and the staff who cared for her said many gracious things about her. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff, too many to mention individually, at Fairmont Extendicare who provided compassionate, loving care to our mother, grandmother and wife. Joyce was a loving, thoughtful, selfless person who we will miss dearly.

SARAH WELLS, beloved wife of the late Luke Wells, of the Blood Reserve, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at the Kainai Continuing Care Centre, on Wednesday, April 29, 2021, at the age of 90 years.

A Public Wake / Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a Wake Service to take place at 7:00 PM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to 20 guests at a time. Sarah will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
