ELEMANS
September 18, 1931 – August 19, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, FRANS J. ELEMANS, on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Frans is survived by his wife Ada, and children: John (Catherine), Rick (Marj), Maria, Yvonne, Angela (Steve) and Michelle (Scott). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Never would his face brighten as much as when he was with his grandchildren.
Frans was predeceased by his daughters, Jackie and Patricia, and son-in-law, Brent.
Born in Helmond, Netherlands, Frans came to Canada in 1956, where he and Ada soon married and started their family.
A voracious reader, Frans developed a keen interest in business, Canadian history, art, politics and a particular passion for gardening.
He was proud of his contribution to his community through the Knights of Columbus, the Lethbridge and District Horticultural Society and as a volunteer at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. He was often a volunteer on his kids school trips, most notably on an exchange trip to Sackville, Nova Scotia, much to his daughters chagrin!
Dad/Opa, for seeing the beauty in chaos, influencing a family of hard workers, making us laugh, instilling the importance of education, love of reading, love of travel, a strong work ethic, ski trips, late night pizza and all the DQ runs….Thanks a Million! You did it your way.
A special thank you to Dr. Choileain and Dr. Greidanus for your years of compassion and care. To all of Dad’s neighbours who kept an eye on him especially Ben and Ralph. Also, many thanks to Cornerstone Funeral Home.
At Frans’ request, a family ceremony was held on August 21, 2021.
