Peter Brau

1965 – 2021

Mr. Peter Brau of Picture Butte, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre after a long struggle with cancer, at the age of 56 years.

Peter lived life to the fullest and cherished his beloved dog, Cowboy.

At Peter’s request, no funeral service will be held. Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels with inurnment of ashes in the Mountain View Cemetery in the family plot.

Flowers are gratefully declined, donations in Peter’s name may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.

Louise Church

(Nee Wukusich)

1924 – 2021

Mrs. Louise Church (nee Wukusich) of Lethbridge passed away peacefully at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Louise worked in the hospitality industry at various establishments in Lethbridge. She was a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also the longest member of the ladies auxiliary (71 years). She was a church choir member for many years and also enjoyed curling and bowling.

She is survived by her 2 daughters Samantha LePard and Deberah Kenney (Dean); 4 sons Randy (Mary) LePard, Kent (Debbie) LePard, John Beattie, and Brian (Cheryl) Kokayko; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister Cathy Mileson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Louise was predeceased by her parents Louis and Veronica; brothers Louis and John; sisters Annie, Mary Renner, Cecelia LaValley; husbands George LePard and Edward Church; and granddaughter Brandi LePard.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Ave S, Lethbridge, Alberta with Father Kevin Tumback, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. HUGHES

LEE JAY HUGHES, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully in his super man-cave beside his beloved pool table on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the age of 51 years.

Lee was predeceased by his grandparents, Cliff & Marie Hughes, and Herman & Mabel Teige.

He is survived by his nephew, Steele Bizuk of Edmonton, nieces, Montana Bizuk of Edmonton, Stevie Hughes of Pincher Creek, Fallon Clarke of Valleyview (Alta) and Ryleigh Wolfe of Lacrete (Alta), brothers, Darcy Paquette (Kim) of Grand Prairie and Carey Chonkolay (Lori) of Edmonton, his sisters, Terry Hughes of St. Albert, Cheryl Hughes of Pincher Creek, Shelly Paquette of Peace River, his father, Bob Hughes of Lethbridge, his mother, Ev Hughes of Lethbridge. He is also survived by his special nieces, Nevaeh Procee and Jerzee Procee, his special nephew Lyric Procee, one step-sister, Amber Herdman, and one step-brother Daniel Orcutt.

After graduating from LCI in 1988, Lee worked several years in the family business, Galaxy Power Tools, and enjoyed interacting, especially selling with all customers. After the business closed, Lee carried on as an entrepreneur, enjoying buying and selling, surviving off “The Juice” as he called it. Lee was an expert pool player and an avid NASCAR fan. He always had an infectious smile for everyone.

The Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street, South, Lethbridge, on Friday, September 17th at 1:00 P.M. Viewing is available from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. A time of fellowship & refreshments will follow. Lee will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

Agnes Catherine Sosick

1926 – 2021

Mrs. Agnes Catherine (Wright) Sosick of Picture Butte, beloved wife of the late Mr. William (Bill) Sosick, passed away peacefully at Piyami Place on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the age of 95 years.

Agnes was born on February 16, 1926 in Hardeville, Alberta to parents John and Agnes Wright. She was the eldest of 10 children. The Wright family lived and farmed in the Broxburn area. She was a good cook and master of Chiffon Cakes. There was never a shortage of food on the table. Agnes and Bill always enjoyed a good conversation. She wrote in her journal everyday and loved her music. The Order of the Royal Purple played an important role in her life.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be fondly remembered by her loving family: Sharon (Bruce) McKay, Shawn (Joanna) Kason and Brycen; Ryan (Amber); Valerie (Doug) Munton, Melissa (Jon) Nolan, Norah and Nate; Moira (Terrance) Jada and Marcus; Michael (Daicya) Lincoln and Lexington; Gloria (Vinko) Nemecek, Darin (Andrea) Neely, Cohen and Chloe; Brent (Laurinda) Olivia, Sawyer and Emily; Nicole (Darren) Finley and Calla; Calvin (Penny) Sosick; Kelly (Dorthy) and Sabastian; Amy (Logan) and Rylee; Colleen (Don) Shimek, Scott (Shannon) Willa and Baer; Stacey (Josh) Dashel, Rodae and Holden; Spencer (Jackie); Craig (Jaqueline) Sosick, Darcie; Taylor (Ryan) and Emree; Savana.

Agnes leaves to mourn her brothers Jimmy (Julie) Wright, Tommy Wright and her sister Dianna Pedersen; her sisters in law Elaine Wright, Johanna Sosick, Joann Sosick; brother in laws Alex Murrell and Morris (Joanne) Sosick; and all of her nieces and nephews.

Agnes was predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Wright; her beloved husband Bill and his parents Joe and Julia Sosick; sons Barry and Larry; grandchildren Bradley and Danielle; great grandchildren Karter, Charlie and Tyson; brothers Francie, Johnny and David Wright; sisters Isabel (Harry) Chemelli, Barbara Koyako, Dorothy Olshaski Murrell (Robert); brother in laws Pete and Louie Sosick and sister-in-law Betty Wright.

The family is grateful for the loving care Agnes received at Piyami Place. A sincere thank you to all of the staff and Dr. Mohamed.

It is with great sadness that the Yellow Horn family announce the passing of Romeo Yellow Horn at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

On Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00am, the family will process from Snodgrass Funeral Home in Pincher Creek for a Private One-Day Wake at the Yellow Horn Ranch on Piikani Nation.
