Jaydean Visser

1994 – 2021

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our eldest daughter, Jaydean Lauren Visser, on September 17, 2021, at the age of 27 years.

She will forever be remembered by her parents Darrell and Lorraine, her beloved son Jaxson and her sisters Dana and Amanda.

Jaydean was lovingly brought into this world on August 28, 1994, in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was funny, loving and had a creative soul. As a child, she was happy, inquisitive and resourceful, always playing detective and being the star of home movies. The family will fondly remember the name “Agent Flower” while looking back on memories of her childhood.

Her teen years were hard as her inquisitive and resourceful nature proved difficult as she entered the drug culture. Although treatment was sought, the drugs were always a force that pulled her away from us.

Now her struggle is over and peace is finally found. We now mourn not only the loss of our girl, but also what addiction took from her; the dreams unfulfilled, the goals unreached, and a life unfinished.

Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations may be made to Streets Alive Mission (Genesis Project).

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will be no formal service. We wish to thank all the first responders for their service.

My poem below is dedicated to Jaydean and to any families with loved ones who are struggling with addiction.

Quicksand

Often it is said that God doesn’t give you more than you can withstand.

But when the one you love is an addict, it’s more like walking on quicksand.

Every moment unsteady treading ever so light.

While your loved one falls deeper into the night.

This is not an easy goodbye, nor the way it should be.

But now is not the time for blame,

it is a time for kindness, forgiveness and mercy.

We love you our dearest Jaydean, our little beauty queen.

The addict is not who we will choose to remember,

instead our daughter’s memory will be treasured.

Love, your family.
