Jean Elizabeth Delauw

1937 – 2021

Jean Elizabeth Delauw of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Aloysius “Loek” Delauw, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2021, at the age of 84 years.

She was born on August 17, 1937, in Cranbrook, BC. To parents Betsy and Fred Shaw. Jean met Loek Delauw in Cranbrook, BC in 1958. Moved to Crowsnest Pass in 1960 where they had their children and resided there until 1969. They then moved to Carmangay, where they raised their boys. After the loss of her husband, Jean moved to Lethbridge. While in Lethbridge, she volunteered with the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans club. Jean enjoyed visiting with friends and family, outings in nature, and playing card games. Family always held a special in her heart.

Jean is survived by her 4 sons Tony (Sherry) of Lethbridge, Frank of Drayton Valley, Lou (Diane) of Crowsnest Pass, Jim (Lynne) of Fauquier, B.C; 8 grandchildren Melinda, Dale, Alisha, James, Crystal, Stephen, Chad and Jackie; 12 great grandchildren; 1 sister Diane (Kurt) Shaw; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband Aloysius “Loek” Delauw; parents Betsy and Fred Shaw, and 1 daughter Patricia Ann in 1964.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 25, 2021, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating. Interment to follow.

Lillian Theressa Foster

1924-2021

Lillian drew her final breath about 8 am, Wednesday, October 13, 2021. She was well cared for by the loving staff at West Highlands Good Samaritans Centre in the Dementia Cottage in Lethbridge. She spent time at both the Magrath and Park Meadows facilities. She is predeceased by two husbands, J. Les Adams and Wilbur Foster. Lil lost her only daughter at birth, Caley Ruth, son Terry in a traffic accident in 1980 and son Ronald October 2019. Lillian is survived by her son Frank (Joan) Adams; daughter-in-law Gayle Adams; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Many Calgarians will remember her for her craft sales. She sold ankle slippers, baby sweaters, afghans, and much more. She was very active at Kerby Centre Calgary, and Lethbridge Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM.

A Two-Day Wake will take place from 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 24 until 2:00 pm on Monday, October 25 at Alma Provost’s residence in Brocket. The Wake will move to Cody Black Eyes residence in Brocket on Monday and will continue until Tuesday, October 26 until 10:00 am. UNGER

HOPPY UNGER of Coaldale, beloved husband and best friend of Amy, passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the age of 83 years.

Besides his loving wife Amy, left to cherish his memory are his brother Eddy of Winnipeg, Amy’s children Trevor (Jackie) Inaba, [Kieran and Ryland] and Cara Inaba, plus many other family members.

He was predeceased by his sisters Mary (Frank) Desjarlais, Irmie (Alfred) Schroeder, sister-in-law Elfie Unger and mother-in-law Mary Nago.

Hoppy was a hard worker and during his life’s journey found work wherever he could, which included the paving of highway 3 between Coaldale and Lethbridge. Rodeo was always his passion and was successful in competition. He received many awards in calf roping and steer wrestling across the country, including the Calgary Stampede. He combined sport with employment at Canbra Food where he challenged and received his Steam Engineers certification. Hoppy’s love of cattle became a reality when he built and established his own feedlot. He realized the satisfaction to be his own boss.

Hoppy was firmly grounded in his faith; he “walked the talk” and was a mentor to many. He was steadfast, honest and disciplined. These attributes marbled and entwined with respect, gentleness and love equals Hoppy Unger.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Coaldale Cemetery on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Barb Roycroft officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hoppy’s memory to the Mennonite Central Committee (donate.mccanada.ca or 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 5K9)
