GAILING, Henry “Pat” Patrick

Sept. 19, 1936 – Oct. 22, 2021

Pat Gailing of Magrath, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 22, 2021.

Born in Elbow, Saskatchewan on September 19, 1936 to Lou and Ethel Gailing, he was the youngest of three children.

Pat proudly served in the Canadian Military from 1955 – 1972. He travelled the world, from Germany to Egypt, and served as a Peace Keeper in the Gaza strip. Pat was promoted to Master Corporal, which is the highest rank in his trade.

On August 15, 1958, Pat married the love of his life, Joan (Pickard), and together, they had four children; Sheldon (Helen) Gailing, Dwain (Ellie Mensinger) Gailing, Teresa (Rudy) Neufeld, and Tina (Ken) Gruninger. He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren, his eight great-grandchildren, which he loved to tease (bucket of poop), as well as his sister Arlene, who resides in Moose Jaw, Sk.

He is predeceased by his parents, and his sister Ann (Sandy Hoy).

Pat was an entrepreneur and owned and operated his own transmission shop for many years. He was a lucky man in life. He was lucky right to the end.

An avid golfer, and some might even say; he was a good one. He loved the legion, where never ending stories would flow. Pat loved playing, and beating his sons-in-law at crib, or playing poker with Ken and Tina.

We will miss Dad’s stories that were, like him, larger than life. Dad would not admit, but truth be told, he was an old softie. We will greatly miss the Man, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and Friend he was.

“We love you, and safe travels”

LUTTEROTTI

With great sadness we announce the passing of Adella Lutterotti (nee Labiuk), beloved wife of George Lutterotti.

Adella passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the age of 73 years.

Adella was the loving mother of Trish Lutterotti, Dave (Sammi) Lutterotti, Erick (Gwen) Lutterotti; proud grandmother of Stefani Lutterotti, Audra Lutterotti, Hunter Lutterotti, Evan Lutterotti, and Ottavio Lutterotti; and sister of Tad (Geri) Labiuk. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Labiuk and her father-in-law, Guerrino Lutterotti. She will be missed and remember lovingly by her family and her friends.

Adella was born March 7, 1948, in West Germany. In 1950, she travelled to Canada with her parents and her brother Tad, where they lived in Raymond and worked the sugar beets. In 1967, she graduated from high school with an arts scholarship, attended secretarial school and later that year she gave birth to her daughter, Trish. In 1969, she met and married George. Soon after, Erick and David were born. Adella was a stay-at-home mom until all the children entered school. At that time, she did secretarial work. When Erick and David went into sports, she was always involved. She volunteered her time at the Lethbridge Minor Hockey office, drove them to games/practices and drew posters for their teams. She was the ultimate and best hockey mom! When her sons married, she was the ever-doting mom and mother-in-law. She used her artistic talents to contribute to their special day.

When the grandchildren began to arrive, she was always there for them, ready to do anything and everything that was needed. Next to her family, her second love was for animals. She was actively involved with the Lethbridge Humane Society. Her favorite time was going for walks along the river and in the coulees with Shelby, her German Shepherd.

In 2002, Adella suffered a stroke. She was a survivor. She put all she could into each day until she could no longer. She never wanted to be a burden, she never asked anything for herself. Adella always put others before herself despite the pain and suffering she lived through each day until the end of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Adella to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca/donate).
