ALBERT BRENT FIRST CHARGER – SHOT BOTH SIDES

It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of our father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, ALBERT BRENT FIRST CHARGER-SHOT BOTH SIDES on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 58.

Albert was born on March 2, 1963, at the Blood Indian Hospital, Cardston, AB., to Alfred Shot Both Sides and Dorothy First Charger. He was raised by his late grandparents, Jim and Annie Shot Both Sides, and by his aunty, Flora Healy.

Growing up, our dad always told stories, whether it be about his adventures on horseback or places that reminded him of his previous experiences. He found a passion in cooking, which he would’ve liked to share with his grandchildren and often spoke of passing on his bread recipe. Albert spent a majority of his working life in Calgary in various job markets but seemed to settle and enjoy the construction trades. His favorite pastimes included watching paranormal shows, constructing new speakers and audio equipment from old stuff and hiking are a few to mention. His bike rides were kind of exhausting but enjoyable and usually we would be gone for hours, but he had a love for the outdoors. He would bring joy to almost every occasion with his sense of humor which was often used to lift the spirits in the room.

Our dad was a hardworking, kind-hearted humorous man who will be deeply missed but not forgotten because of the memories, stories and values he passed onto his children and grandchildren. We will be forever grateful for the fond memories and lessons he leaves behind in each of our unique stories about him.

Albert will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen Many Shots, his daughters, the pride and joys of his life, Miranda (Chad), Tamara, Tara, and Twyla Many Shots, his only baby boy he cherished, Keegan (Britney) Many Shots, and his adopted son Dante Many Shots, his grandchildren that he cares more for than the World, are Lakeisha Darcy, Kaneyen, Keelane, Lakana Senri, Aria, and two more grandbabies on the way, that he was excited to meet, his adopted children, Candice and Misty Many Shots, and Deanna Smith, and godchildren, Harlin and Candice Many Shots.

Albert is also survived by his father, Alfred Shot Both Sides, his brothers, Homer, Kelly, Timothy and Cameron Shot Both Sides, sisters, Brenda and Wendy Shot Both Sides, aunties, Christine (Roy) Bare Shin Bone, Clara Chief Moon, Lena Shot Both Sides, Gabrielle Shot Both Sides, Maryann (Mathew) Chief Moon, Florence (Richard) Right Hand and Clothilda First Charger, uncles, Christopher, Jim Jr, and Donald Shot Both Sides.

Albert was predeceased by his grandparents, Jim and Annie Shot Both Sides, Dora First Charger, mother, Dorothy First Charger, brother, Kevin First Charger-Shot Both Sides, aunties, Mildred Chief Moon, Pauline Eagle Child, Flora Healy, uncles, Clovis, Bernard, Rodrick Shot Both Sides, Herman, Jerry and Leonard First Charger.

Andrea Habijanac

1924 – 2022

Andrea Habijanac (nee Bebek) of Coaldale, beloved wife of the late Rudy Habijanac, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 25 at the age of 97 years.

Andrea was born on April 16, 1924 in Sipovaca Hercegovina Yugoslavia to parents Jurka Zivkusic and Jure Bebek. Jure immigrated first to Canada in 1928. Andrea and the rest of her family joined him in 1937 and worked in the sugar beet fields in Raymond and Picture Butte areas for several years. Andrea met Rudy Habijanac at a Croatian picnic in Barnwell and they were married on July 23, 1944. Andrea and Rudy farmed near Coaldale with Rudy’s parents until their passing. Together, Andrea and Rudy raised their family on the farm and continued farming until his passing. Andrea then decided to stay on the family farm, where she resided until her passing.

Andrea loved the farm and could not imagine living anywhere else. Over the years, she raised cattle and chickens, had milk cows, a few pigs sheep, and geese. She had a large garden which included numerous vegetables and gladiolas and flowers too. She was a great cook and family and friends were beneficiaries of her cabbage rolls and her specialty baking, kifles, as well as many other delicious treats.

Family was number one for Andrea and she loved spending time with them. There were many get-togethers with family and friends at the Habijanac farm. And every Thursday was “coffee day” in Lethbridge, a tradition which continued until recently.

Andrea is survived by her four children: Don (Pam), Ron (Tracy), Ken (Kathee) and Barb (Clarence) Giesbrecht. Andrea was a proud grandmother of Carrie (Tom) and Laurie, Brett (Jen), Tara (Adrian) Harbison, Nicholas, Sacha (Thao) and Julie. She was a proud great- grandmother of Jenna, Jordan and Kaden Husein, Lucien, Dylan, Nathan and Lauren Habijanac and Makena and Tea Harbison. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides her loving husband Rudy, Andrea is predeceased by her parents Jure and Jurka, her in-laws Izidor and Frances, her siblings Nick (Eva) Bebek, Mike (Freda) Bebek, Madeline (Steve) Lukenda and Millie (Ivan) Ponjavic and her in-laws Kathryn (Jim) Spence (Guido Bagozzi), Vic (Anne) Habijanac, Barbara (Paul) Konigsbauer.

Andrea was a strong and courageous woman, determined to live her life on her own terms. Her life is a wonderful example and her legacy will live on in us. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm, on Friday, February 4, 2022, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge.
