TRADEWELL, Douglas

1933 – 2022

It is with great sadness and much love that we say good-bye to a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather – Douglas Tradewell. Doug was born on July 18th, 1933 and passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, on May 5th, 2022.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank and May, his daughter Janice, his brother Ken, brother-in-law John and sister-in-law Olga. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Angela, his son Brad and daughter Judy, sons-in-law Joe and Roger and his daughter-in-law Cindy. Doug was grandfather to Niki, Brent, Zachary and Jacob and had 5 great grandchildren that he cherished. He will also be missed by his siblings Jean (George), Shirley (Don), Francis (Lauren) and James and by brothers-in-law Walter (Linda) and Ernie (Anne).

Doug was a friend to everyone that knew him in both business and in his personal life. He had a very successful career which took him to Southern Alberta culminating with his position of Vice President /GM with Lafarge Lethbridge. All those who either worked for or dealt with Doug were made to feel more like friends and family than like employees and customers. He was fair and had the highest level of integrity.

Doug was passionate about golf, fishing and travelling with Angela. With his retirement he moved back to Sherwood Park and enjoyed playing at Belvedere Country Club. He was competitive but loved the time that a round of golf gave him enjoying the company of his friends. Doug loved hockey and spent many a moment watching either his son Brad play, the Lethbridge Hurricanes, or his grandsons Brent or Jacob.

Doug volunteered on numerous boards and associations bringing his pragmatic voice to each of them.

A private family service will be held to honor this great man. In lieu of flowers if you would like to support the Canadian Lung Association’s effort in Doug’s name it would truly be appreciated by all his family. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 4PM to 5PM at Glenwood Funeral Home (52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park).
