HEALY

It is with sadness the family of Marlene Healy announces her peaceful passing on July 2, 2022 at the Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 81.

Marlene was born in Edmonton on March 13, 1941 to Eva and Lewis Ivers. She grew up in Milo, Alberta. After high school, she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Milo until she married Lorne Healy on August 20, 1960. She began her married life on the Healy family farm where she resided until 1990 when she and Lorne moved to the acreage in Vulcan. In 2019, she moved into the Extendicare where she resided until her passing.

Marlene was a dedicated wife and homemaker, raising 4 children. She was an active member of the Milo United Church and then the Church of Christ in Vulcan. She was known for her homemade buns and supplied many community and church functions. After raising her family, she volunteered at the Vulcan Hospital Tuck Shop and on outings with the long-term care patients.

One of Marlene’s favourite things to do was be in her yard, planting flowers, pruning trees and watching the birds. In the morning, you could always find her having a coffee, doing her crosswords and enjoying the sights out her patio doors. Family was very important to her and she looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren whenever she had the opportunity.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lorne, daughter Doreen (Eric), son David (Andrea), daughter Janet (Brett) and son Ross (Julie) 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a precious granddaughter, Nikita, in 2016.

The family is very grateful for the love and care given to Marlene for the past three years. Our deepest thanks to each and every one of you who visited with her, took care of her and provided her with medical support.

Please join the family in celebrating Marlene’s life on Thursday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Vulcan (409 1st St. S).

Luncheon and visiting to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of Christ, Box 484, Vulcan, AB, T0L 2B0.
