James Able

1927 – 2022

James Able beloved husband of the late Audrey Able, passed away peacefully at Cedar Creek Adaptacare on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the age of 95 years.

Jim will be missed by his daughter Lynne (Bill) Anderson and son Dave (Lani) Able, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Jim was born in County Durham, Seaham Harbour, England. He was a veteran of WWII with the British Navy travelling the world on an Air Craft Carrier starting at the age of 18. He met his future wife Audrey while in the Navy, and they were married in 1950 and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Over the years he lived and worked in Peterborough, Calgary, Burlington and finally settling for life in Lethbridge in 1970.

He is predeceased by his parents and 8 siblings.

As per Jim’s request, a private Service will be held to Celebrate Jim’s Life on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Hurdman, Cynthia Edessa

Jan. 24, 1944 – Sept. 24, 2022

Cynthia Edessa Hurdman, a loving mother of 7, grandmother of 22, and great-grandmother of 13, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 24, 2022, at home in Calgary at the age of 78. Cynthia was born on January 24, 1944 and was the oldest of 6 children. She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Gertrude Hurdman as well as 2 of her children, Sheri Jensen, and Shane Wilson. She will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters along with her children and their families. She will be remembered as a compassionate, good-hearted soul that never had an unkind word for anyone. She was incredibly creative and loved to express it through her sewing, crocheting, and scrapbooking. She also loved to sing and was passionate about working on her family history.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Seton Chapel – 530 Seton Passage SE Calgary on Monday October 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM. For those unable to attend, you may join a

 Kerry Miles Ishida, passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the age of 69 years.

HÉLÈNE MARCOTTE passed suddenly but peacefully in her home with her husband by her side in Coaldale, AB on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the age of 60 years.

Mr. Glenn Morrison of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Joyce Morrison, passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

Kenneth “Ken” Perdue

1948 – 2022

Ken passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the age of 74, surrounded by his family. It was a beautiful fall day. The day was spent recalling special moments of times past, with many laughs and some tears. He stated numerous times, “I had a beautiful life.” It was what Dad desired and hoped for before passing.

Left to cherish the memories are daughters Tara (Brian) and Lisa; grandson Mason Thiessen and sister Mary Lynn Muhly.

He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Addie Perdue and sister Jean (Dave) LaPointe.

Ken was born and raised in Lethbridge, He worked for Alberta Environment for 34 years before choosing an early retirement to pursue his passions for golf, curling, fishing and country dancing. Dad was an awesome 2 stepper, even better if it was a Garth Brooks song. Sports were a vital part of his life whether as a participant or spectator, he enjoyed the comradery. He lived his life on his own terms forming many friendships and relationships along the way.

During the past few years, Ken faced many uncertainties regarding his health. He was no longer able to be active and it was frustrating for him. Prior to his passing, he was provided comfort care by the staff at LRH on Unit 5B. Ken’s family would like to acknowledge and thank them for their compassion.

As per Ken’s wishes, no formal service will occur.

Rest now Dad, thinking of the hole in one you achieved at the Picture Butte course on hole 5. Keep rooting for the Winnipeg Jets!

STACK

It is with great sorrow that the family of Kay Stack (nee Goss) announces her passing on September 21, 2022 in Great Falls, MT.

Kay was born on February 20, 1940 in Browning, MT where she was raised and lived until marrying Dan Higgins, with whom she had 5 children. After their divorce, she met and married the love of her life, Al Stack, who embraced her five children as his own. After moving to Canada, Kay and Al lived and worked throughout Alberta before settling in Cardston, AB in 1985. Kay found joy in cooking and baking for her family and friends as well as her many hobbies and crafts such as quilting, cross stitch, crochet and genealogy. After her retirement in 2017, she moved from Cardston back to her home in Browning. Kay was always a pillar of support for her family and friends and her devotion to those she loved was apparent. Her laughter, kind nature and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Cindy (David) Taft, Randy (Sue) Higgins & Lyndee Stevenson & daughters-in-law Eunice Higgins and Darlene Flynn. She also leaves behind to mourn 12 grandchildren, 11 brothers & sisters, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.

Kay is preceded in death by her beloved husband Al Stack, her sons Rock Higgins and Ron Higgins, grandson Eli Higgins, granddaughter-in-law Toni Crossguns, parents Orville (Avonne) Goss and Marguerite (Woodrow) Brown, and brothers, Wayne Goss, Orville Goss Jr. and Chico Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Starr School, MT on Saturday Oct. 1st at 11:00 a.m. Burial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Willow Creek Cemetery in Browning, MT.


Angelina Walker

1933 – 2022

Mrs. Angelina Walker of Brooks, beloved wife of the late Mr. Robert Walker, passed away at the Brooks Health Centre, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

Zgorelec Catherine

1936-2022

Catherine Maria Zgorelec, beloved mother of six, passed away on September 24, 2022 at the age of 86.

Catherine was born in France but lived in both; Zagreb, Croatia and Triste, Italy before immigrating to Canada in 1951. Catherine is survived by her six children, 15 grandchildren and to date, 26 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Catherine had a great love for her family and especially adored all her grandbabies. She will be forever in our hearts and memories. No matter how long we had she is still gone far too soon. Don’t forget mom, we love you!

Viewing will be held October 3 at 11:00 am at Martin Bros. Riverview Chapel. Funeral services will be held October 4 at 11:00 am at All Saints Roman Catholic Church.
