SLEIGHTHOLM, Shirley SHIRLEY SLEIGHTHOLM 1925 2022 Mrs. Shirley Sleightholm of Lethbridge passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the age of 97 years.

BOHNERT, Pauline PAULINE BOHNERT 1934 ~ 2022 Pauline Bohnert, beloved wife of the late Hans Bohnert, passed away at the age of 88 at St. Therese Villa on Saturday, October 29th, 2022.
Pauline Hildebrandt was born in Mariewka, Romania on August 6th, 1934. In 1940, when Pauline was just 6 years old, her family moved from Romania to Austria. The family travelled by horse & wagon to Austria where they stayed in a refugee camp for 1 year while they waited to be settled in German territory. They were taken by train to the city of Gogolin, Poland (West Prussia) and were there from 1941 until they had to flee from the advancing Russians in January of 1945. They again fled in a covered wagon further west into Germany. On August 18, 1952, Pauline and her family immigrated to Canada on a ship named Beaverbrae, landing in Quebec. The family travelled to Alberta and settled into a life of farming in Kipp, Alberta. Within one month of arriving, Pauline met Hans Bohnert at a social gathering at the Lutheran Church. Hans proposed to Pauline on her birthday in 1953 and they were married on May 15, 1954. They welcomed 6 sons and spent the majority of their time living on South Parkside Drive and later building & moving into the big house on the hill by the old mine in 1975. Pauline was a dedicated wife to her husband Hans, she was a loving mother and was a very active and serving church member for her entire life. She loved serving others and hosting large dinner parties and was especially known for her wonderful cooking and baking. Pauline never had a negative word to say about anyone and welcomed and loved all those she met. Her two great loves were God and her family.
Pauline is survived by her 6 sons, 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; Norbert (Denise) and children Elisa (Brandon) with great-grandsons Merritt and Fynn; Daylan (Kaila) with great grand-daughter on the way; Ralph (Beth) and children Nicole, Aaron (Cathy) with great-grandson Noah, Nathan (Jade) with great-grandson Nash, Megan (Pat); Lorenz and children Sara, Joshua (Kim) with great grandchildren Max, Hazel & Felix, Josef, (Veronica); Hilmar; Paul (Sherri) and children Tyson (Ashley), Jeremiah and Kiann; and Mark (Beverly) and children Gregory, Jennifer and Ryan.
Pauline is also survived by her brother, Rudy (Julie) Hildebrandt, sister-in-law Mary (Richard Hildebrandt). She was predeceased by her parents Immanuel and Pauline Hildebrandt; brother Karl (Emma), sister Alwine (Ewald) and brother Richard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
There will be a private family graveside service.
Everyone is welcome to attend a come-and-go Celebration of Life Reception from 12:30pm to 4:00pm on Monday, November 7, 2022 with a short program beginning at 1:00pm.
It will be held at the COUNTRY KITCHEN HALL (BELOW THE KEG), 1715 MAYOR MAGRATH DRIVE SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.

HART, Joyce JOYCE ELLA HART 1930 2022 Joyce Ella Hart, beloved wife of the late Albert Hart, passed away peacefully at Legacy Lodge in Lethbridge, on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the age of 92 years.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels. Upon her request, there will be no funeral service.

KNOX, Edward
KNOX EDWARD “ED” L. KNOX, beloved husband of Judith “Judy” Knox of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the age of 80 years.
Along with Judy, his wife of 60 years, he is lovingly remembered by children, Edward Jr. of Stoney Plain, Steven (Rhonda) Edmonton, Shierra Lynn (Joe) of Lethbridge, honourary son, Roger Lantz (Sask), ten grandchildren, Jordan (Ryan), Eric, Allan, Thomas, Shelby, Rebecca, Kirsten, David, Justine, and Chelsea and six great-grandchildren, Aurora, Drake, Jackson, Tristen,
Charlotte, and Mia. Also left to Cherish his memory is his brother Ray (Maud) Knox Calgary. Another brother is Jim (Irene) Knox in Ontario, many nieces and nephews throughout Canada as well as his friend of many years, Eugene Dick.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Margaret Knox (née Norris), son Allan Bradley (2017), brothers John (Eleanor) and Bill (Sharon), sister Hilda (2021) and his grandson Mike Knox (1999).
Ed was born in Halifax January 29, 1942. He enlisted into the Canadian army in 1960 and was serving when he incurred a serious ankle injury that caused him to be discharged. His limb was eventually amputated in 2013.
On June 21, 1961, he met the love of his life, Judith Ann McCarthy. They were married Feb 21, 1962 and moved to Edgerton in Pictou County, N.S.
Ed did many things including log splitting at Hughie Parks Mill, selling Singer sewing machines and then worked for several years at Addressograph Multigraph in Halifax as a salesman.
In 1973 they packed up their four kids with a grand in their pocket, without a job to go to and flew out West to Calgary. When the Addressograph Multigraph manager, Mike Kidd, heard of Ed leaving his job, he admired Ed’s spunk and said he needed a man like that on his team and hired him on the spot. Ed didn’t let him down sold and repaired many machines for the company. He was transferred to Lethbridge in 1974.
In 1975 Ed became a member of the Lethbridge Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was an active member holding many positions until his ill health in 2010.
When Addressograph Multigraph closed out Ed received a grant from Veteran’s Affairs to attend the University of Lethbridge and became a teacher, the job he loved best. He received his Master’s degree four years later at Gonzaga University.
Ed taught classes in Lethbridge and Pincher Creek for the Lethbridge Community College for many years and on the Blood Reserve for eight years.
He was active in his community, becoming involved with the Coalhurst Town Council and later served as the Mayor for one term. Ed was a member of AADAC (Alberta Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council) and enjoyed his membership with the Coalhurst Legion. Ed loved reading, fishing, golfing, doing delicate scroll-saw wood working and spent many waking hours watching old John Wayne western movies on TV.
Throughout his life Ed always suffered serious health issues and many times came close to death however cancer was the final cause of his death.
The breath God gave him is back with God and Ed will now rest peacefully until Jesus returns to claim His own.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor James Wesley officiating.

BARTEL, Gordon BARTEL GORDON BARTEL, loving husband of Bethany Bartel, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Chinook Regional Hospital, at the age of 36 years.
A Funeral Service will be held at the COALDALE MB CHURCH – 2114 18th Street, Coaldale, AB, on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Gary Burke officiating. The service will be livestreamed may be viewed through Gordon’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
Following the Funeral Service, Gordon will be laid to rest at a family graveside service at the Coaldale Mennonite Cemetery.
