HOUSE, Nancy Jean House It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy “Jean” Vinette House, beloved wife of the late Ron House, on November 30, 2022 at the age of 91 years.
Jean leaves to mourn her passing her sons Barry, Murray (Sheri), Kevin, her daughter Arlene (Ben), and daughter in law Lillian. Jean is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased by her parents George and Helen Croy, her son Blair in 2001, her husband Ron in 2014, and her brother Keith in 2021.
As a young girl, Jean worked on the farm riding the tractor, helping with the chickens, and raising a 4H calf or two along the way.
She met and married the “love of her life” Ron in 1950 and together they raised 5 children who adored them both.
Jean spent countless hours watching all of her children and grandchildren play sports from baseball, hockey, figure skating, volleyball, bowling, soccer, speed skating, and curling. She thoroughly enjoyed watching and cheering everyone on.
Jean was a homemaker at heart, keeping her active family organized and providing great meals for them. She was always welcoming an extra kid or two at the table, treating them as her own.
Jean was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game year-round. She and Ron became “Snow Birds” for a number of years, making many new friends from many different places in Canada and the US. Friendships with other Snow Birds lasted for many years and they often would visit each other during the summer months at various locations.
A Celebration of Life will be held in June 2023 when all of the family can be together.

THIELEN, Gregory GREGORY THIELEN GREG THIELEN, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Care Centre on Monday, December 5th, 2022, at the age of 62 years.
He was predeceased by his father, Francis Thielen, his mother, Marcella Thielen, and one sister, Debbie Gallop, as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Greg is survived by one brother, Kurt Thielen (Teresa) of Fort St. John, B.C., one sister, Joanne Thielen of Edmonton, AB., nephews, Justin Gallop (Shannon) of Sweetgrass, MT, Cole Thielen and Lane Thielen, both of Kamloops, B.C., his cousins, Tom Vornbrock of Yellowknife, NWT, Valerie McPhee of Lethbridge, AB (whom welcomed him into their home while Greg was with them in Yellowknife).
To all the many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, Thank You for your friendship & support, and to St. Michael’s Care Centre support staff, nurses and doctors for the wonderful care given to him.
Greg was a character and a half, having a unique sense of humor and a quick wit. He was a talented person, as he had a never-ending ability to fix things. We will remember Greg for his love of his pets (especially Piper), his love of family and his love for looking for treasures. He was always looking for gold at the end of the rainbow.

KNIFE, Randy KNIFE RANDY EMIL KNIFE, passed away on December 4, 2022 on the Blood Reserve, AB at the age of 68 years. A Wake Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Monday, December 12 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm and continue at the Randy Knife residence all night. BOHAC, Vera BOHAC, Vera 1936-2022 Vera Bohac passed away unexpectedly but quietly in her home on November 27, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born in Libochovice, Czech Republic. Vera was the loving mother of Veronika Bohac-Clarke of Calgary and Lucie Bohac (Andrew Collins) of Ottawa, and beloved Babi of Ema, Gabi, Nick and Max. Dear sister of Miloslav BeneÅ¡ of Prague, Czech Republic. She is predeceased by her husband, Jiri “George” Bohac and later Ernst Rohrbach. Vera lived a full life, coming to Canada with Jiri and daughters, to settle in Guelph, Ontario, before moving to Lethbridge, Alberta, and working at the Animal Diseases Research Institute (West) in the Old Man River bottom. She and George returned to Guelph in 1986 where she continued to work for the federal laboratory. Vera spent her working career as a laboratory technician, in veterinary diagnostics.
Vera was well known for her amazing culinary delights, and for her love of music and dancing. She volunteered for the Lethbridge Symphony Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved painting in watercolours, and gardening. Her personality filled the room wherever she went. She was adventurous and active until the pandemic. She will be dearly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held in early spring to allow for the family to connect with friends near and far.

SCHIMANSKI, Michael MICHAEL SCHIMANSKI 1970 – 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mike Schimanski on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the age of 52 years. Mike passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital ICU due to complications from a heart attack. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Judy and father to Greg (Whitney) and Jamie (Raelene), but his proudest role was being Papa to Ryeker (7) Willa (2), and Everly (1).
Mike was born in Calgary, Alberta, on March 12, 1970, and grew up on a farm north of Picture Butte. When Mike was 16, he met the love of his life, Judy, and not long after they welcomed their son, Gregory, at the young age of 17. Together they moved into Lethbridge and were married May 2, 1992. Shortly after, they welcome their honeymoon baby, Jamie, who completed their family of 4. This year Mike and Judy celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary will all their closest family and friends.
He was an honest, loyal, hardworking man with a big heart whose laugh was contagious and always brought a smile to your face. If you didn’t see Mike working at Honda, you could find him at a hockey rink cheering on his boys or relaxing at his trailer in the mountains. He also loved fishing on the river, working on his truck (Kiki), tinkering in the shop/garage, or spending quality time with his family, which usually meant working around his boys’ houses followed by a good drink.
To know Mike was to love him. He will be dearly missed but would want his life to be celebrated. Hold your loved ones close.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 11:30 am, on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH OF LETHBRIDGE, 4717 24 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1K 7C1.

Williams, Alfred DR. ALFRED “ERIC” WILLIAMS 1936 – 2022 “And him shall heavenly arms enfold ” Dr. Alfred Richard Frederick Williams passed peacefully in his 87th year on 7th December 2022.
Eric as he was known was born in London, England on the 10thJanuary 1936. He was preceded by his Father (Richard Thomas Williams), Mother (Mary Dodds Wear), Stepfather (Stanley Wilson Smith) and beloved wife (Diana Mary Tooth). Eric is survived by his sisters Sylvia and Valarie, his children Richard and Stephen along with cherished grandchildren Julian and Alexandra.
West End Infants School in Aldershot saw the beginning of his formal education through to Farnborough Boys School (Grammar School). An opportunity to attend University College London to study medicine also brought him to Saint Pancras New Church where many lifelong friendships were born. During those summer days, with friends he joined on several pilgrimages, where his relationship with Diana grew. August 1958, saw them married at their beloved Saint Pancras in London.
Richard was born in 1961, naturally at University College Hospital London under the watchful eye of Eric. Then in 1962 a calling to help with the Church of England’s medical mission in Tanganyika saw a move. Stephen was born in early 1963 making the family complete. After the two-year mission a return to England, with surgeries in Bletchley then Caddington and Farley Hill (Luton).
Never one to stay still, 1972 saw the family migrate to Lethbridge, where both Diana and Eric grew firm and happy roots. This was their last move, as it suited them well. Eric joined the Campbell Clinic and retired in late 2005 after over 45 years of medical practice on three continents.
Many tens of thousands of miles running the streets of Lethbridge and Southern Alberta, Chairman of the Public Library, head of the medical staff at both old Lethbridge Hospitals, Sportsman, Classical Music and Opera enthusiast, Naturalist, Shutterbug and World traveller were just some of the things that occupied his days.
A man of strong faith, a caring doctor, a gentleman, a teacher, a friend, and a community minded individual. He has touched so many, and we are all grateful to have known him.
A very special thank you to the staff and doctors at the Chinook Regional Hospital 3B and Saint Michael’s palliative care unit for caring for him in his last few weeks.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Eric’s life will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, December 16, 2022 at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 11 St S, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Steve Bateman, officiating.

HODGSON, William HODGSON WILLIAM “BUD” HODGSON passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the age of 92 years.
He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Cheryl, two sons, Jim and Sean Hodgson, stepchildren Rachelle White and Rob Warren, as well as 8 grandchildren, Christa, Adam, Jessica, Olivia, Andrew, Unique, Truesta and Raryn.
Bud was born in Toronto, Ontario on September 6, 1930. Later, in 1977, he moved to Lethbridge where he finished raising his two boys. On July 15, 1995, he married Cheryl. Cheryl was the love of his life and their bond was very strong. The two were never apart and they did everything together.
Bud paid service in the Korean War from 1948-1954, fingerprinting soldiers. He then worked as a labourer for the city, and in 1997, he retired. His love for his family, model railroads, nature, and visiting Canadian historic sites kept him busy. He also enjoyed helping people and volunteered with outreach for the Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre for several years.
Bud also worked with the Blackfoot elders and they gave him an honorary Blackfoot name, Iiyikitappii, meaning brave or courageous one.
A Memorial Service / Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. for anyone wishing to attend, with Pastor Roger Halverson officiating.

HURT, Jeffery JEFFERY HURT 1971 – 2022 Jeff Hurt of Lethbridge, beloved son of Blair and Carol Hurt and father to Tanner and Graysen, passed away suddenly after a short illness, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the age of 51 years.
A Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
