ANDREWS, Ellen ANDREWS ELLEN ANDREWS, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Chinook Regional Hospital with her devoted husband, Raymond, and loving son, Greg, by her side. She had a very full life of 92 years.
Ellen was born December 14, 1930 to Jim and Molly Riley. In 1937, they moved from their Crystal Lake farm to a farm at Readymade. Ellen had many fond memories of growing up with her older sister, Betty, and younger sister, Mona, in the close-knit Readymade community.
After graduating, she moved to Coaldale and worked at the post office for five years. In the summer of ’49, Ellen met the love of her life, Raymond Andrews. They were married August 15, 1953 — a loving union that would endure for 69 1/2 years. Their only child, Greg, was born in 1956. From 1973 to 1986, Ellen worked in the Lethbridge Sears warehouse office. Ray, Ellen and Greg moved from Coaldale to Lethbridge in 1974.
Ellen’s many interests included dancing, bowling, golfing, boating, card games, sewing, puzzles, walking, bicycling, gardening and photography. Ray and Ellen took numerous RV trips, and they especially enjoyed wintering in Arizona with their many snowbird friends.
Ellen was intelligent, resourceful, hardworking, determined and witty. She was a thoughtful, caring, generous lady, and a very loving, devoted, supportive wife and mother. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
Ellen is survived by her husband Ray, son Greg, in-laws Shirley (Jim) Pedersen and Ev (late Wes) Andrews, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her niece Cindy LaValley (Carter) Bond and grandniece Cerena Bond.
Ellen was predeceased by her sisters Betty (late Lawrence) Frey and Mona (late Stan) LaValley.
