GRAHAM, Lloyd GRAHAM Graham, Lloyd Cass, of Vulcan, beloved husband of Rose, passed away at the Vulcan Extendicare February 24, 2023 at the age of 100 years.
Besides his loving wife Rose, Lloyd is survived by daughters Valerie (Brent) Skura of Richmond, B.C and Leila (Ron) Bunton of Lethbridge, three grandchildren – Erin, Ryan and Greg, great grand- grandchildren, sister Irma (Roy) Wilson of Calgary, brother Glenn (Alice) of Vulcan, numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11 am at Vulcan United Church, Sue MacDonald officiating. Inurnment Vulcan Cemetery.

HECK, Margaret HECK MARGARET VIOLET HECK, of Lethbridge and formerly of Hays, beloved wife of the late Carl “Bud” Heck, passed away peacefully at the St. Therese Villa, comforted by the presence of her family on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the age of 93 years.
Margaret is survived by her children: Fay (Les), Linda (Ross), Robert (Rose), Dennis (Lorraine) and Tom, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Barbara (Bryan) Watts, Verna McDowell and Sharon (Ike) Fehr as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her loving husband Bud, Margaret was predeceased by her parents Elmer and Agnes Mickelberry, brothers, Norman, Bud and James, and sisters, Irene, Dorothy and Betty.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Greg Esselmont officiating.
Margaret will be laid to rest with Bud privately, in the Field of Honour in the Vauxhall Cemetery.

SKRETTING, Gerald SKRETTING 1957 – 2023 GERALD SAMUEL SKRETTING, of Enchant, passed away peacefully in Calgary, on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the age of 65 years.
Gerald is survived by his mother Ionne, brother Allan (Ruth), sister Muriel (Brent), brother Lesley, brother Darwin (Sherri) and sister Marilyn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Gudmund and sister-in-law Cindy (Lesley).
Gerald was born on April 21, 1957. He was the second son of Gudmund and Ionne Skretting. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Enchant, and then Vauxhall schools. Gerald helped out on the farm before moving to Lethbridge, where he was employed by the Alberta Wheat Pool. In 1996, Gerald returned to the Enchant area and remained in the area until his passing.
Gerald enjoyed hunting and horseback riding. One of the highlights in his life was participating in the Centennial Cattle Drive, from Buffalo Alberta (a ghost town that is located just south of Red Deer River, near Jenner) to Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Gerald was a kind person, and he will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Friends are invited to gather with the family for a time of remembrance at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, March 3, 2023 between 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Gerald will be laid to rest privately in a Family Graveside Service in Enchant.

HORON, Sheila HORON SHEILA ELLEN HORON, cherished only daughter of Mary Maureen Condon Horon and the late Eugene Horon, died peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023. She will be missed by her brother, Kelly Horon (Glenda), sister-in-law Tobi Horon (Greg), niece and nephews Andrea Passey (Dylan), Braeden Horon (Emma), and Michael Horon. Sheila was predeceased by her father, Eugene Horon, her brother, Greg Horon, as well as grandparents Joe and Edna Condon and William and Kathleen Horon.

YAMASHITA, Nobuo “Nobby” NOBUO “NOBBY” YAMASHITA 1930 – 2023 Mr. Nobuo “Nobby” Yamashita of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Rose Yamashita, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the age of 93 years.
Nobby was born in Celtic Canyon B.C. January 8, 1930. He met the love of his life, Rose, in Vauxhall and they were married on April 21, 1956. They loved spending time together and were seldom seen apart- especially in the later years they could be found walking.
While farming his passions were hunting, fishing, camping, and curling bonspiels. He always had a smile on his face and loved to strike up a conversation with anyone he would meet. Generous, courteous and funny are words that would be used to describe him.
Nobby farmed until he was 64 when he retired. Farming was his passion, and in retirement enjoyed growing tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, sweet peas, and a variety of vegetables. He also enjoyed walleye fishing trips with Maxine and Ken and friends. He kept up with technology and loved watching old westerns on You Tube.
Besides his beloved wife Rose (Hoshiko), Nobby is survived by his son Greg.
He was predeceased by brothers Yasuo and Shigero, as well as his sisters Naomi and Hideko.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

DARBY, Dennis DARBY DENNIS EDWARD DARBY, beloved husband of Alice Darby, passed away peacefully with family by his side at St. Therese Villa on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the age of 81 years.
Besides his loving wife Alice of 57 years, Dennis is survived by his daughters, Barbara Darby and Sandra (John) De Groot; and grandchildren Steven and Andrea De Groot. He will be fondly remembered by his cousins and Alice’s family.
He was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Lewis Darby and his only sibling James.
Dennis was born on June 23, 1941 in Regina, SK. He attended the U of S, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, and graduated with a MSc from the University of Guelph in 1968. He was employed by Alberta Agriculture for 39 years, retiring in 2002.
Dennis was an avid curler. He loved nature, cards, playing pool and photography. He was always a fan of going for coffee. He spent lots of time volunteering for the McKillop United Church Property Committee, and the Lethbridge and Interfaith Foodbanks. You could also find him doing yard work around the condo.
Alzheimer’s Disease affected him in the last seven years of his life. We thank all of his caregivers at St. Therese Villa, where he spent the last year of his life. Dennis’ remains have been donated to the University of Calgary for medical research.
A Memorial Service will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.

The family of Thomas Harold Yates are sad to announce his passing at the Bow Island Health Centre on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the age of 90 years. Tom leaves behind his children, Russel (Rochelle) Yates, Pat McCray, Shelly Lambert and Murray (Jayne) Yates; grandchildren, Bailey McCray, Miles McCray, Kaelin Lambert, Clayton Yates and Rohdy Yates as well as his great-granddaughter Mekah McCray. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Midge in 2009; son-in-law, Scott McCray; parents, Harold and Ethel Yates; sister, Pat (Mick) Brooks; brothers, Bill (Toody) Yates and Richard Yates as well as all of Midge’s siblings. BABIN, Eric BABIN ERIC RICHARD BABIN, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Nancy Babin, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the age of 46 years.

POCZA, Roy ROY POCZA 1944 – 2023 Mr. Roy Pocza of Lethbridge, beloved partner of the late Gwen Willimont, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the age of 78 years.
Roy was born in the old Galt Hospital and raised in Lethbridge. He fondly looked back on his days spent on the family farm which was located on the area now famously known as “the Sugar Bowl”. Roy followed in his father’s footsteps, spending 38 years in the automotive business. His work in parts, service, sales and management cultivated many cherished long-time clients and friendships. He worked for Beny Chev Olds, Davis Pontiac and the McDonald Auto Group. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to share the experiences of hunting, fishing, camping and golfing with his family and friends. He especially loved his time at the Pocza Hideout (lakelot) at Duck Lake, Montana. Roy also had a passion for gardening and his beautiful yard was always impressive.
Roy is survived by his two sons Jason (Kelly), their children Leni & Finn; Ryan and his daughter Isla; stepchildren Billy Baum (Michaela) their kids Chloe and Cooper; Tara Baum and her kids Katie, Max and Allie. Also left to mourn, his brother Grant and his daughter Whitney; Roy’s very special friend Trudy Thys and his canine companion Lucy.
Besides his loving partner Gwen, Roy is pre-deceased by his parents Chester & Elizabeth Pocza; sister Barbara (Tom) Ayerhart; nephew Allan Wiebe and survived by their family, son Carlin (Susan) Ayerhart, their children Lily and Lemmy and daughter Tracey Wiebe.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, March 6, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge.
