PROKOP, Robert “Bob” BOB PROKOP 1961 – 2023 Robert (Bob) Prokop of Chin, Alberta, beloved husband of Abby Prokop, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the age of 62. Bob grew up in Lethbridge, AB and was the younger son of Steve or Evelyn Prokop, and has one older brother, Andrew Prokop, of Taber, Alberta. Bob married Abby Braaten in 1989 and they started their life together by homesteading on a piece of land in the river valley north of Chin where they raised their children and still reside. Their two daughters, Clancy Prokop and Sadie Brenner, and Sadie’s husband Adam and two daughters, Luka and Kai reside in Lethbridge, AB.
Bob started his work career young as a paper boy and then moved on to City Excavating in 1979. In 1986 Bob moved to work for the City of Lethbridge paving crew and a couple of years later moved on to Electric Ops where he remained for the rest of his work career. Bob put his heart into his work and everything he did and was a loyal friend, employee, son and family man.
Bob had an interest in cattle and maintained a small herd as well as a part-time bob cat and backhoe business for 30 years. His passion for classic cars was rekindled a few years ago and his exceptional memory could tell us the name and year of any vehicle that we challenged him with.
Bob will be especially remembered by his family and many friends and relatives for his love of outdoors and animals, his tremendous work ethic, unique sense of humor, gentle ways – especially for his children and grandchildren, and brave heart.
Bob and his family are very grateful for the support and caring of Bob’s old high school buddies, neighbors, relatives, friends, work colleagues, and health care individuals involved in Bob’s health challenge over the past two and a half years.
