HUMPHREYS, Richard “Rick”
RICHARD “RICK” HUMPHREYS 1959-2023 The family of Richard “Rick” Wayne Humphreys is saddened to announce his passing on December 2, 2023, in Cardston, Alberta, at the age of 64 years.
Rick was born to Dick and Eva Mae (Milner) Humphreys on June 13, 1959, in Edmonton and grew up in Lethbridge. After serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sapporo Japan, he attended Lethbridge Community College. He worked for 15 years for the City of Lethbridge and earned his Bachelor of Management from the U of L while working full-time for the city. He then spent several years consulting in the U.S., until he eventually found the perfect job in Magrath. He loved work and took pride doing a job well, but his greatest joy came from his family and from serving others. He loved camping trips with his kids, hiking with his friends, and making up a good joke. He liked to perform, enjoyed theatre and singing with his family, and was an accomplished drummer. He served for many years on the SASH board and loved interacting with the clients. A ten-minute errand to the grocery store often turned into a three-hour journey as he shoveled sidewalks, helped people move, or just stopped to see how someone was doing. He looked for and found a friend in everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie (Thomson) Humphreys; three children – David (Fallon) Stokell, Christin (Thane) Werner, and Jared Stokell; three step-children – Malissa (Weston) Wilson, Clayton Goodsell, and Emma (Kinson) Jenkins; and 12 grandchildren; his mother, Eva Mae Humphreys; brothers – Ken (Carla), Doug (Roberta), Bruce (Barb); sisters – Barbara (Rod) Merrill, and Sheila (Cal) Hatch; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Dick Humphreys, and sister-in-law Christy Humphreys.
A Funeral service will be held December 16, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garden Place Chapel (170 Centre St N, Magrath, Alberta). The service will begin at 11:00AM with friends meet family from 10:00AM to 10:45AM. To view the live streamed service, please visit Rick’s obituary prior to the service at http://www.salmonandsons.ca
