HERBERT “HERB” KUEHN
1916 – 2023

Mr. Herbert “Herb” Charles Kuehn of Lethbridge passed away Monday December 18, 2023, at St. Micheal’s Care Centre at the wise age of 107 years.
Herb was predeceased by his wife and soulmate Grace Kuehn; parents Frank & Louise Kuehn; 2 sisters & 2 brothers and their respective spouses; son Franklyn Kuehn; daughter in law Loretta Kuehn; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Herb is survived by his daughter Ethel (Alan) Graham of Manitoba; his son Kenneth Kuehn of Alberta; his daughter B. Paige (Randy) Hartman of Alberta; daugther-in-law Lynne Kuehn of Alberta; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Herb was born on November 18, 1916, on the family farm North of Warner, Alberta, the second youngest of 5 children. Herb grew up on the farm working with his dad, older brother Harold and younger brother Wesley. Herb enjoyed farming, purchasing his own farm East of Skiff, Alberta in late 1938. Herb met his late wife, Grace “Happy” Florence Lonsdale, also of Warner, Alberta and they were married October 18, 1939. After a brief honeymoon in Banff, they settled on the farm near Skiff. It was on this farm they raised their family of 4 children and remained for over 70 years.
Herb was a quiet, thoughtful, man of few words, who would have been content to stay on the farm and work on any form of equipment, or reading a non-fiction publication, or educational materials as opposed to going to town. However, Hap did not let Herb hibernate as much as he would have chosen. Together, they attended community functions, events and auctions, and would visit neighbours and family as time permitted.

Although Herb was very well known for his countless accomplishments and community services, he had 3 goals he strove to fulfill in his lifetime. These were: to have his own farm, to have a grain elevator, and to learn to fly (a tribute to his late brother Harold). Herb enjoyed accomplishing all 3 of those dreams over the course of his life. He was the last of his generation!
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service which will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, December 29, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
