FERENZ, Albert ALBERT JOSEPH FERENZ A loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024 at the age of 91 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Helen of 67 years and his two sons Dave (Pam), Jim (Glenda) and their families.
He was predeceased by a daughter Janet in 2014 and a son Bryan in 2020.
As per Albert’s wishes there will be no funeral. Cremation to follow.

BRECKA, Lydia Lydia Brecka 1936 – 2024 Lydia Brecka, beloved wife of the late Henry Brecka, passed away peacefully in Taber on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 87 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 7:00 P.M.

Lydia is survived by her four children Sylvia (Bill) Hiemstra of Cranford, Beverly Brecka of High River, Carolyn (Eric) Vallee of Burdett and David Brecka of Cranford; grandchildren Janelle Hiemstra, Nadine Hiemstra (Jordan Hingley), Kyle (Kira) Hiemstra and Kimberly (Brandon) Hart; great grandchildren Abigail, Claire and Gary. She is also survived by her brother Frank (Virginia) Badura; sisters Mary Kusalik, Annie Cudrak, Mildred Braat, Helen Zadnik and Rose Badura, as well many nieces and nephews in the Badura family; Karen (Vic) Willms and Cor VanDyk in the Brecka family.
She was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Frances Badura; brothers Charlie Badura, John Badura and Joe Badura; sisters Beth Braat and Frances Pavka.
Lydia was born on November 23, 1936 to Floyd and Frances Badura. Theirs was a large family with twelve children, and Lydia worked alongside her mother to grow and raise most of the food for the family. When she married Henry on February 12, 1958, she was well prepared to carry on being a great homemaker, and her family enjoyed all of the garden fresh, frozen, canned and pickled fruits and vegetables, along with chickens and cows that were raised. The pantry was always full. Her family especially looked forward to all of her baking, the secret ingredient was that it was made with love. Lydia enjoyed many different crafts, sewing, puzzles and the simple pleasures of life.
The family would like to thank the staff of Clearview Lodge and the Taber Health Centre for their care for Lydia.

OLDENBURGER, David David Wayne Oldenburger January 10, 1962 – February 2, 2024 Our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend is now safe in the arms of Jesus. David is survived by his loving Mom, Nellie Groeneweg, three brothers, Mike (Evelyn), Randy, Clint (Marianne) and his very special Aunt Johanna as well as a large extended family.
David was a loving, giving and gentle man. He had a special sense for people who needed encouragement. He was the best older brother you could ever have. He will be deeply missed.
David was predeceased by his Opa and Oma, Gerrit and Marie Groeneweg.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday February 8, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Monarch Reformed Church, Monarch Alberta. The interment will take place at 12:00pm at the Monarch Cemetery, prior to the Service.

RUDE, Frances RUDE FRANCES CHARLOTTE RUDE, beloved wife of the late Victor Eugene Rude, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the age of 86 years.

CHISTE, Gianni “John” CHISTE GIANNI “JOHN” CHISTE, of Lethbridge, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the age of 88 years, after a very brief battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Adriana, his three daughters Francesca (Kevin), Marina (Randy) and Paola (Chris) and his six grandchildren, Robbie, Matteo, Massimo, Luca, Mikko and Lena. He will be greatly missed.
At Gianni’s request, no service will be held. A private family service will be held at a later date.

BOURQUE, Pierre PIERRE BOURQUE 1955 – 2024 Mr. Pierre Bourque of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Linda Djinovic, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 68 years.

UNRAU, John UNRAU JOHN HENRY UNRAU, brother of Ruth Neufeld, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit. He was 76 years old.
Besides his sister, he is survived by his bonus nieces, Cheryl O’Donnell, and Sylvia and Bill Klassen and their families as well as many relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Helen Unrau, and his step-mother Helen Unrau, as well as several cousins and friends.
John graduated from SAIT in 1968 with a diploma in biochemical technology, working in soil sciences at the Lethbridge Research Centre for 29 years. His retirement jobs included working in the receiving area and volunteering at MCC Thrift Shop. He also volunteered at Ten Thousand Villages, and washed piles and piles of dishes at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization. They honoured him with a lifetime membership for his many years of dedicated service.
John’s hobbies included making many varieties of Christmas cake, petit point, and stained-glass work. Gardening and listening to classical music were his passions.
A Funeral Service will be held at the COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH, 2316 – 17 Street, Coaldale, AB, on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ryan Dueck officiating. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through John’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
