SOGZ, Sister Mary SOGZ Sogz, Sister Mary Dolores, 90, a Sister of St. Martha of Antigonish, died at Mary’s Court, Parkland, Antigonish, on Saturday February 10, 2024, in the 71st year of her Religious Life.
Born in Odessa, Saskatchewan, Sister Mary Dolores was the daughter of Joseph H. and Barbara (Unser) Sogz. (Stepmother Joanna Sogz).
Sister Mary Dolores entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha on August 15, 1951. She pronounced her first vows on August 15, 1953, and her perpetual vows on August 15, 1956. She obtained a BSc in Home Economics in 1956, and further training as a dietitian. Sr. Dolores served in several of the Congregation’s hospitals; St. Joseph’s, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia; St. Rita’s, Sydney, Nova Scotia; St. Peter’s, Melville, Saskatchewan; St. Michael’s, Lethbridge, Alberta. She was ever the Home Economist, always finding ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Anyone who was on the receiving end of a greeting card from Sr. Dolores was a beneficiary of her creativity.
Following retirement from this work, Sr. Dolores moved into Pastoral Care, working at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish for a time, and while living in Inverness was fully engaged in the ministry of presence. She served the Congregation in several capacities when she moved to Bethany, and following the move to Parkland, Antigonish, continued to live a life dedicated to Gospel Hospitality to anyone and everyone she encountered, always ready with a story and a smile.
Sister Mary Dolores was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Rose Ziegler, and Cathy Callfas (Stepmother Joanna Sogz and Stepbrother Wilfred Huber). She leaves her devoted niece and her husband and several other nieces and nephews.
The remains will be resting at Martha Place, Parkland Antigonish, Thursday February 15, 9:00 a.m., a Celebration of Vigil will be held at 11:00am in St. Martha Chapel, Parkland Antigonish. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on the same day, 1:45 p.m. in St. Martha Chapel. The Eulogy and Funeral Mass will be livestreamed through the Funeral Home website.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Services of Antigonish.
TINORDI, Louis TINORDI Louis Tinordi, beloved husband to Thea of Lethbridge, passed away at Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the age of 86 years.
Born in 1937, Louis Tinordi hailed from a farm near Spiritwood, Saskatchewan and after moving to Lethbridge met the love of his life Thea in 1957, and married in 1958. He became a dedicated father of four boys and a wonderful husband of 65 years. Louis was always there for his wife and kids, and was always willing to help others.
Survived by his wife Thea of 65 years, sons Ron (Darlene), Darren, Darcy (Pat Grasdahl) and Randy (Connie). Grandchildren Sherri Hart, Great Grandchild Tristan Hart.
Predeceased by four brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter Sarah-Dawn.
Dad enjoyed old time country music and lighting up the dance floor with his wife. He participated in the Whoop-Up Days parades, including local parades, becoming known as “Cow Bell Louie”, organizing a free jamboree at the Park Meadows Mall parking lot, around which time he was starstruck to meet Wilf Carter.
Dad was always a hard worker involved in the construction industry, did much work around the house, and proudly launched his own business called “Louie’s Concrete” for over ten years. Throughout the summer seasons of the 1970’s he enjoyed taking his family camping and his children were delighted in all the summer trips.
Dad had a good sense of humor and a kind heart until the end, and in his later years was an avid filmer of home videos. He is dearly loved and missed by his family.

HEAVY HEAD, Waylon HEAVY HEAD Waylon Aylmer Heavy Head passed away on February 9, 2024 on the Blood Reserve, Alberta at the age of 45 years.
A Wake Service will be held at the Moses Lake Community Hall, Blood Reserve on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 7:00 – 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Tuesday, February 20 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Heavy Head Cemetery.

GODFREY, Kiah KIAH JANE GODFREY 2002-2024 Miss. Kiah Jane Godfrey of Lethbridge passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the age of 22 years.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Geoff Heth, officiating.
Interment will follow at Royal View Cemetery.

GOMANY, Helen GOMANY MRS. HELEN GOMANY, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late John Gomany, passed away peacefully, with her daughter Carol by her side, on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the age of 99 years, just 79 days shy of 100 years old.
Helen is survived by her children: John, Carol, and Robert, as well as by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Irene in Penticton. Helen was predeceased by her daughters Margaret and Rita.
Mom was born on April 27, 1924 in Harsany, Hungary. She was a very loving and caring woman you could talk to about anything. She was very good at baking, especially making cookies and a variety of pastries. She also canned a lot.
Thank you to Cyndi for all of her care for Gammie, and to all the ladies that cared for Mom and all they did for her.
As per Helen’s request, a private Graveside Service to be held at a later date.

BURRIS, Richard “Rick” RICHARD ERNEST BURRIS October 5, 1950 – February 4, 2024 Richard (Rick), beloved husband of 51 years to Violet (nee Heward) passed away on February 4 at the age of 73 at St Michael’s Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy and valiant battle with cancer.
