PEPPER, Enid In Loving Memory of Enid LaVon (Dowdle) Pepper Enid Pepper, aged 97, departed peacefully on February 28, 2024, at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. She was born on September 20, 1926, in Woolford, Alberta, the daughter of Merriett Dewey Dowdle and Alice Ada Webster.
A funeral service for Enid is scheduled for Thursday, March 7th at 11:00am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2410 28 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. You may meet with the family prior to the funeral service beginning at 10am.

FIRST CHARGER, Dwight FIRST CHARGER Dwight Branden First Charger passed away on February 24, 2024 on the Blood Reserve, Alberta at the age of 30 years.
A Wake Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve, Alberta on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 7:00 – 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall on Saturday, March 9 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in the Pioneer Cemetery.

PRADHAN, Man PRADHAN MAN MAYA PRADHAN passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the age of 90 years.
A Funeral Service will be held at CENTRAL CHURCH OF CHRIST, 716 – 23 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Prakash Timsina officiating.

SHEMANCHUK, Joseph SHEMANCHUK JOSEPH ALEXANDER SHEMANCHUK, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Clara Shemanchuk, passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his sister Mary Luchkow of Edmonton and his son Ron (Sandy) Shemanchuk of Lethbridge; grandchildren: Julie (John Lester) Shemanchuk, Dan (Genna) Shemanchuk, Laura (Joel) Gordon, Jeffrey (Eileen) Shemanchuk and Leah Shemanchuk (Matt Loria), and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Sandy Chrapko and brother-in-law Ronald Chrapko as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife Clara, Joe was predeceased by his son Allan Shemanchuk.
Joe was born April 28, 1927 in Wostok, Alberta. He graduated from high school in Lamont, AB, then attended and received a diploma from the Olds School of Agriculture, followed by the University of Alberta, where he completed his B.Sc. in Agriculture and M.Sc. in Entomology. Joe worked as a Research Scientist at the Lethbridge Research Station from 1955 to 1991. He served in the militia, in the 18th Field Artillery Regiment, retiring with the rank of Major, and received the Canadian Forces Decoration Medal.
He married his wife Clara on September 1, 1951. Together, they loved to travel and hobby farm the original farmstead at St Michael, AB, near Wostok, AB.
Joe was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows for 50 years and received national recognition in honour of his long service. He was committed to community service and volunteered on several local communities, including the Lethbridge Housing Authority and Southern Alberta Community Living Association. He received recognition from FESC and Entomological Society of Canada.
The family would like to extended a thank you to the staff at St. Therese for exceptional care with our father.
A Celebration of Joseph’s Life will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH – 2329 15 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Trevor Potter officiating. The service will be live streamed and may be accessed via Joseph’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

BOURNE, Elijah “Elige” ELIJAH (ELIGE) BOURNE Elige passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2024 at the age of 74 years.
Elige was born in Magrath on July 11, 1949 to Mahlon and Evelyn Bourne, the 10th of 14 children. He is survived by his children, Jodi, Jacquie, Jaimie Leigh, EJ, Justin and Michaela. He is also survived by his siblings, Don, Neil, Connie, Clark, Monte, Leonard and Bessie.
Elige’s greatest passion in life were the horses. He started his career out as a jockey. He was known as the “King of the Bush”. He had a very competitive spirit and always wanted to win. After his days of being a jockey were over, Elige took up horse training. The best horse he ever trained was Shimshine – his pride and joy. During his career as a trainer, his horses earned just short of $2.5 million. The Horses were his life.
“May all your horses be winners!!” A Graveside Service will be held at the Magrath Cemetery on Tuesday March 5, 2024 at 11:00am.

THURBER, Bruce BRUCE THURBER 1964 – 2024 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Thurber, loving husband of Sherry Davis, father of Isobel and Finn Thurber on March 1, 2024. He will be deeply missed by his blended family Nicholas (Tori) Davis, Paul (Kim) Davis and their children Elizabeth and Parker.
Bruce is survived by his sisters Patti (Scott) Powell, Kathleen (Felix) Thurber-Fridman, Mary-Ann Thurber, sister-in-law Pam Thurber as well as numerous other family and friends.
Bruce was predeceased by his brother Ian Thurber and parents Bill and Winnie Thurber.
Bruce was passionate about physical activity, finishing numerous Ironmans, marathons and races that showcased his dedication to fitness. Exploring various sports was another one of his interests, with ventures into activities such as bowling, skiing, hiking and bodybuilding. Sharing these experiences with his wife Sherry and their family brought him immense joy, particularly during their travels and moments spent in Canmore. Bruce cherished the companionship of his three dogs, often dedicating time to walk them at the nearby dog park. Professionally, he had a successful career as an engineer, culminating in the ownership of his own engineering company, BDT Engineering Ltd. Working alongside his dedicated team was a source of fulfillment for Bruce. He also volunteered his time in the community serving on the Municipal Planning and Lethbridge Police Commissions, and as a past Rotarian.
All are invited to a Memorial Service that will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
