SCHILDWACHTER, Angie SCHILDWACHTER, Angie (nee Hornak) March 17, 1923 – March 21, 2024 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Angie Schildwachter of Turin, AB, and Calgary, AB, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the age of 101 years.
Angie was born in the village of Chropov, Czechoslovakia on March 17, 1923. She was one of six children born to Mary and Jozeph Hornak.
Her voyage to Canada began when she was fifteen years old. The family departed from Prague on March 2, 1938, and arrived in Halifax on March 22, 1938. It took the family nearly three weeks by boat to get to Canada. The family settled in the Lethbridge area.
She loved people. She was a social butterfly and loved sharing stories and memories with her many friends over coffee and kolache or poppyseed loaf (her specialties). She enjoyed singing, tending her garden, and crocheting.
A devoted Jehovah’s Witness, she spent many hours sharing her love of the Bible with people she met.
Angie was predeceased by her husband Henry Schildwachter (November 2022), her parents, Mary and Jozeph; siblings, Joe, Mary, Josephine, and Victor.
Angie leaves behind her loving daughter Shirley Redford (Roger), four granddaughters, Susanne (Richard Clark), Kathleen (Greg Royer), Mandy (Wayne Maskewich), and Glenda (Darrell Groeneveld); ten great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Angie is also survived by her brother John and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Angie’s Life will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (5 Rocky Mountain Boulevard West, Lethbridge, AB) on Saturday April 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

NIESSEN, Martha MARTHA NIESSEN 1926 – 2024 Mrs. Martha Niessen of Coaldale, beloved wife of the late Mr. William Niessen passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 97 years.
Martha was born in Blumenhof, Saskatchewan, on September 1, 1926, the youngest child of Henry and Katherine Friesen. She married William (Bill) Niessen on October 22, 1944. Martha was a cook in a number of different establishments and retired from the Sunny South Lodge in 1990. She was an avid gardener and loved to spend time with her grandkids. She enjoyed her time in Riondel, B.C with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her daughters Shirley deJager (Jerry) of Coaldale, Dorothy Vandemunt (Neil) of Coaldale; son James Niessen of Riondel B. C. & Yuma Arizona; grandchildren Michelle Walther (Chris), Kathy Lorge (John Paul), Mike deJager (Cindy), Carolyn Vandemunt (Jeff), Brad Kreft (Gerita), and Sylvia Klok (Brian); 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Besides her beloved husband William, Martha was predeceased by her parents Henry and Katherine Friesen; 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

GUNTER, James “Jim” GUNTER JAMES “JIM” RAY GUNTER, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Elaine, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the age of 83 years.

GAYLE CONN 1946 – 2024 It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of our dear wife, mama, grandma, sister, auntie, and friend. Gayle passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024 with her family by her side.
Gayle was born in Regina, SK on April 12, 1946 to Edward and Ruth Ireton. She was the second youngest of five children. She played trumpet in the band and even twirled a baton in the marching band. She met her loving husband Kent Conn of Indian Head, SK while playing on the same bowling league and they moved to Lethbridge, got married and went to Las Vegas for their honeymoon. Married for almost 52 years, Gayle and Kent enjoyed shuffleboard (winning many championships together), travelling, playing cards, visiting relatives and friends, and spending time with their daughters and grandchildren. Her optimism, fun loving spirit and brightness will live forever in our hearts and be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband Kent; daughters Susan (Olivier) Conard and Kathy (Andrew) Gardiner; grandchildren Alex, Emilie, Abigayle, and Allison; siblings Ted Ireton, Loretta (Tom) Ball, Dan Ireton, and Tom (Emily) Ireton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents Edward and Ruth Ireton; sisters-in-law Gray McKay, Evelyn Ireton, and Betty Ireton; and brothers-in-law Doug Conn and George McKay.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610- 4 STREET South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

D’ ENTREMONT, Norma D’ ENTREMONT NORMA MAE D’ ENTREMONT, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late George D’ Entremont, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Therese Villa, on Thursday March 28, 2024 at the age of 89 years.
Norma was born October 20, 1934, in Kipling, Saskatchewan. Norma loved the outdoors and sitting around with friends. Norma and Ed moved to Lethbridge to be close to her daughter and her family.
She later moved to Calgary where she met George (Ed) d’Entremont and they were married on July 30, 1966.
Norma is survived by her daughter Leigh Ann (Vlad) Wasylechko, her grandchildren Cassandra (Travis) Barrows, Ashleigh (Chris) Schmidtler, Michael (Katie) Wasylechko, her two great granddaughters Aaliyah and Brinley, her brothers Jack (Pat) Tillotson, Don (Maureen) Tillotson, and Dennis (Beth) Tillotson, and many nieces and nephews.
The family of Norma would like to thank the staff at St. Therese Villa for all the amazing care that you gave to her, Dr. Weston, Dr. Walsh with the palliative care team, and Erin with Home Care.
As per Norma’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

WINN, Randy WINN “T-BONE” RANDY WINN, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Cathy Lumley, passed away at home with his family at his side. Randy endured a long battle with cancer and is now pain free. Now he can ride his Harley through the pearly gates with the wind in his hair and smile upon his face, on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the age of 67 years.
Funeral arrangements will be announced once completed.
