YAWNEY, Mary YAWNEY MARY YAWNEY, beloved wife of the late Paul Yawney, passed away in Raymond, AB on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the age of 95 years.
Friends may meet the family at Legacy Funeral Home in Cardston, Alberta, on Friday, May 3rd, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taylor Street Chapel, Raymond, AB on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Cardston Cemetery.

CHAPMAN, Harold CHAPMAN Nov. 7, 1953 – Apr. 24, 2024 HAROLD JAMES CHAPMAN, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the age of 70 years.
Harold was survived by his children: Christina Chapman and Daniel Chapman, as well as his brothers: Bob, Jack (Lesley) and Daryl Chapman.
He was predeceased by his daughter Crystal Chapman, sister Rae Ann Navratil and his parents Murray & Megan Chapman.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. Harold will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.

ERICKSON, Anne ERICKSON “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection, and the life, he who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live.” – John 11:25 ANNE ERICKSON (née Sevcov) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Edward Erickson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the age of 90 years.

PALADINO, Antonino “Tony” PALADINO May 9, 1930 – April 25, 2024 ANTONINO “TONY” PALADINO, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Maria Grazia Paladino, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the age of 93 years.
Tony was the loving father of Nicholas “Nick” (Lynette) Paladino of Lethbridge and Luciana “Lucy” (Brent) Johnson of Lethbridge, as well as grandfather to Tate Anthony (Kimberly) Paladino of Coaldale; and great-grandfather to Kade Russell Paladino and Reeve Rodney Paladino. Tony is also survived by his two sisters, Dolores (Tony) Cardarelli and Mariella (Santo) Tallarico, sister-in-law Maria Paladino and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, Nicola and Lucia Paladino and brothers, Michele and Giuseppe Paladino.
Tony immigrated to Canada from Civitanova del Sannio, Italy, in May 1949. He began his life in Canada, working on his uncle’s farm and later, started his 36 year long career with the Canadian Pacific Railway. Maria joined Tony in Canada in June of 1953 and they were married a month later in Coaldale, Alberta. With a growing family, they relocated to Lethbridge in 1961, where they were welcomed by neighbors and friends alike. He was a sweet, gentle, kind-hearted soul with a passion for his family, his friends, his garden, his wine and his Italian heritage.
Tony was an active member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a founding member of the Romulus and Remus Italian Canadian Club.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. with Sharon Hagel officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Ave South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating. Following the Interment in Mountain View Cemetery, family and friends are invited to further share this day at the ITALIAN CANADIAN CULTURAL CENTRE, 1511 St Edward Blvd North, Lethbridge, AB, for a time of fellowship, light lunch, and refreshment.

HALE, Donald “Don” HALE DONALD “DON” ANDREW HALE peacefully entered the next phase of his journey at home in Warner, with his family at his side, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at age of 89 years.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Carol and children, David (Tanja), Kenton (Melanie), Russ (Janet), and adopted son Bob. Don is also survived by his many grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, all of whom will miss him.
He will be remembered for his wit, caring, knowledge, wisdom and music (saxophone).
Don grew up on the family farm west of Warner and began his formal education at Royal Roads Military College in Victoria, BC, and continued with a Bachelor of Education from the U of A and his Masters from the U of C. His career began in Edmonton at the Alberta School for the Deaf and Richie Junior High. In Calgary, Don taught at Sherwood Elementary, after which he participated in a school exchange program in York, England.
While in England, Don took his wife and two young sons (#1 and #4) on a motorcycle with sidecar tour of France, Belgium, Denmark, and Sweden.
In Calgary, he started the band program at Vincent Massey and was principal of Bob Edward’s elementary where he introduced an open multi-grade program. Don then became principal of Olds Junior/Senior High School.
Don and Carol designed and implemented a program operated from their farm near Water Valley for young men that did not fit conventional school. Participants began with extended wilderness experiences in the Rockies, West Coast Vancouver Island, northern Alberta, and the Yukon. Farm activities included shipping cream, raising hogs, cows/calves, forage, and hay. Don helped his boys set up logging and sawmill operations. Don was also an accomplished contractor.
Don and Carol taught ESL to teachers and engineers in China and traveled the country extensively. Don and Carol played with many dance bands through the years in many communities.
A Celebration of Life will be held at ELKS HALL, 210-4th Avenue, Warner, AB on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 1:00 P.M.

LAYTON, Patrick “Pat” LAYTON PATRICK “PAT” DALE LAYTON, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Gerrie Layton, was born on May 10, 1947, in Cardston, AB, and passed away peacefully with family by his side at St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the age of 76 years.
Pat had a passion for all sports. He played, coached, volunteered, refereed, and watched, but golf was the top of the list. He had a strong presence at the Lethbridge Country Club, where he was a member for nearly 30 years and served on the board. The rounds played at Whitefish Lake Golf Course were almost always followed by a trip to the Bulldog with whomever he played with that day. Pat was also a leader in the Southern Alberta basketball community, where he refereed for over 25 years.
Along with sports, Pat’s other passion was spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Whitefish. The pride he took in taking care of the cabin was evident to anyone who stopped by for a beer and a fire.
Pat worked for Agriculture Canada for 38 years. Through his work with the CFIA, Pat was able to see much of Canada, where the impression he left was that of professionalism and kindness wherever he went.
Besides his loving wife of nearly fifty-six years, Gerrie (née Garner), Pat is survived by his son; Mike (Heather) Layton, four beloved grandchildren, Connor and Adam Layton and Graham and Allison Barnouw. Pat is also survived by his mother, Bert Coates, three brothers, Dan, Ken and Max Layton, sister-in-law Kathy (Randy) Dodd, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Kris Barnouw, father Leroy “Bish” Layton, stepfather Ron Coates and parents-in-law Elmer and Mabel Garner. Pat leaves behind many dear friends whom he treasured greatly.
Special thank you to Dr. Benke, Tanya and all of the wonderful staff at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre for their exceptional care of Pat over the last year.

ROYER, Victor “Vic” ROYER VICTOR “VIC” EMIL ROYER, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Beth Royer, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, April 29th, 2024 at the age of 91 years.
Many of you will know and miss this amazing hotelier, restaurateur, golfer, hockey player, world traveler, and terrible Bridge partner! But no one will miss him more than his kids, Sandra (Erle) and Andre (Jeff), who were at his side to the end, and his grandkids, Emma and Sam.
We wanted him to stay for at least one more coffee and donut, or rye and coke, but we know his beloved wife Beth was yelling from heaven to “Hurry up, dear, I miss you… and we tee off in 5 minutes!”

HENDERSON, Patricia PATRICIA DIANE HENDERSON 1969 – 2024 Patricia (Trish) Diane Henderson passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital after a long and complicated battle with Crohn’s disease. She was 54 years old.
Trish was born May 22, 1969 in Lethbridge and resided here for most of her life. She was an avid animal lover and spent many happy years training and showing her beloved quarter horse Sassy Jack Pine. Her best friend and fur baby Jake provided her much comfort and happiness throughout her illness.
Trish is survived by her father Scott Henderson, sisters Kelly (Walter) Dyck, Debi Henderson (John Jacobson), nieces and nephews Nicole, Jordan, Jared and Jesse and their families.
She is also survived by aunts Betty Moriyama and Sheilah Henderson, and her five cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother, Bev Henderson and her dog Jake.
We would like to acknowledge the incredible care Trish received throughout her illness and extend our sincere gratitude to the many medical professionals who provided such compassionate support.
At Trish’s request, no funeral service will be held, and flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations can be made in Trish’s memory to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation or the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation.

MILLER, William “Bill” MILLER WILLIAM “BILL” JOSEPH MILLER, of Lethbridge, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, April 22, 2024 at the age of 65 years, after a courageous battle with Kidney Cancer.
Bill’s memory lives on through his loving grandson, Oliver Miller, and his children, Dwayne (Danielle) Miller of Lethbridge, and Andrea Miller (Joel Marten) of Crowsnest Pass. He is also survived by his siblings: Lorena (Graham) Kelly of Medicine Hat, Bernadette (Kaz) Banbur, Ron (Peggy) Miller, Rita (Steve) Anderson, Dorothy (Randall) McPhee, Cathy (Al) Kope, and Glen (Brenda) Miller, all of Lethbridge, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Christina Miller, his brother, Clarence Miller, and nephews, Darcy and Ronny Miller.
