Popularity reaching new heights at RMTC

The B Cup Stakes were held last weekend at Rocky Mountain Turf Club and it proved to be an outstanding day of horse racing.  Large crowds socially distanced, were there to lay their money down, and they did just that. The biggest day for money bet was Monday night when more than $200,000 was bet on seven races.

This weekend there will be eight live races per day, today and Sunday, with post time being 1:15 p.m. both days. As always, there will be events for the entire family, including the playground area and the stick races for kids.

One of the more interesting people in the backstretch of Rocky Mountain Turf Club is Travis Robson. Travis moved to Lethbridge four years ago to barrel race and work as a farrier. He eventually made his way out to the race track and began shoeing race horses.

Of course, as is the case so often, he picked up the horse-racing bug. It paid off for him this year as a filly he owns with Dale Johnson, Only One Kiss, was the winner of the B Cup Stakes race for fillies and mares.

Travis plans on expanding his horse racing operation and currently is running four race horses at Rocky Mountain Turf Club.

It should be a great weekend of horse racing and we’ll see you at the track.
