Professional bull riding returning to Lethbridge

By Lethbridge Herald on August 13, 2021.

For the first time in league history, Professional Bull Riders Canada will launch the 2021 season for the elite Cup Series in Lethbridge,

The PBR South Country Co-op Showdown is slated to ride into Enmax Centre Aug. 27-28.

Adding to the significance of the event, the tour stop will mark the first major ticketed, fan-attended event held at the venue since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the league’s Touring Pro Division has been holding events since mid-June, Jared Parsonage of Maple Creek, Sask. will travel to Enmax Centre ranked number one in the nation, 27 points ahead of reigning National Champion and current number-two rider Dakota Buttar.

To date in this year, Parsonage has gone an impressive 6-for-10 on home soil, winning a league-leading three Touring Pro Division events.

Parsonage is no stranger to success in Lethbridge.

In 2019, when the Cup Series debuted at Enmax Centre, Parsonage won the tour stop to leave ranked No. 1 in the nation.

In 2020, Lethbridge was the site of PBR history.

After playing host to the last fan-attended Cup Series event prior to the pandemic in early March, Lethbridge was the site of the league’s historic return to competition with a double-header in late July 2020 following a 138-day hiatus from live events.
