By Lethbridge Herald on October 2, 2021.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s soccer team was handed their first loss of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference season.

The Kodiaks were topped 3-1 by the SAIT Trojans in league play Friday afternoon in Calgary.

With the loss, the Kodiaks are 3-1, while SAIT remains undefeated at 3-0.

On the men’s side, the Kodiaks fell 2-1 to the Trojans and are now 2-2 this season.

In the women’s game, Krista Van Diemen scored for Lethbridge to make it 2-1, but that’s as close as the Kodiaks got as the Trojans added one more with all the scoring in the first half.

Kodiaks goaltender Cailey Lister stopped five of eight shots in the loss.

In the men’s game, the Trojans opened up a 2-0 lead before Ben Knight scored for the Kodiaks to cut the lead to 2-1.

But the visitors were unable to net the equalizer, being held to two shots on goal to the Trojans 10.

Kodiaks goaltender Ethan Demers kicked out eight of 10 shots.

The Kodiaks are back on the road and back to Calgary on Sunday when they take on the Ambrose Lions. The women’s game is at 2 p.m. and the men follow at 4 p.m.

In Southern Alberta High School Football League play Friday night, the Chinook Coyotes downed the Catholic Central Cougars 48-7 in interlocking play at the University of Lethbridge Stadium.

In the second game, the LCI Rams got past the Cardston Cougars 22-14 in Division A play.
