Pandas and Coyotes tops in volleyball season

The Magrath Pandas and the Chinook Coyotes girls’ varsity teams have ended the Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League regular season tied atop the standings.
The Pandas defeated the Winston Churchill High School Griffins 3-0 (25-17 25-8 25-9) Tuesday night, while the Coyotes downed the Immanuel Christian Eagles 3-0 (25-15 25-18 25-15) as both teams finish the regular season at 10-1.
In other action Tuesday, the Catholic Central Cougars wrapped up the regular season at 8-3 thanks to a 3-1 win (25-18 25-11 16-25 25-21) over the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride.
The Raymond Comets finished at 7-4 with a 3-1 win over the Cardston Cougars (26-24 23-25 25-14 25-12), while the LCI Clippers blanked the Taber W.R. Myers Rebels 3-0 (25-17 25-19 25-13) to finish at 6-5.
In girl’s junior varsity play Tuesday, the Griffins defeated the Pandas 2-1 (15-25 25-20, 15-13) and the Coyotes beat the Eagles 2-0 (25-20 25-13).
The Cougars beat the Pride 2-0 (25-13 25-15), the Comets got past Cardston 2-1 (21-25 25-15 15-6) and the Rebels topped the Clippers 2-1 (25-18 14-25 15-11).
The varsity boy’s teams were wrapping up the regular season Wednesday night as the Pride hosted the Eagles.
