The Copperheads blanked the Lomond Lakers 4-0 Saturday night at the Coaldale Sportsplex and then headed to Didsbury Sunday, where they doubled up the Mountainview Colts 6-3.

The wins improve the Copperheads to 7-6-1 and into third place in the HJHL Southern Division, four points behind the second place Medicine Hat Cubs (9-4-1).

On Sunday in Didsbury, Dallas Bodnar scored twice – including the game-winner – for the Copperheads as Coaldale rallied from a 3-2 deficit after the second period with four third period goals.

Bodnar, Braiden Burke, Krishan Stocker and Jason Creighton also scored in the third period for Coaldale.

Bodnar and Stocker’s goals were on the man advantage.

Koden Lazar scored in the first period for the Copperheads.

Creighton had an assist for two points and Kaden Booth chipped in with two assists.

Ethan Barrows stopped 35 of 38 shots.

On Saturday at the Coaldale Sportsplex, Logan Leroux made 29 saves for the shutout and the win as Coaldale got two third period goals from Creighton and singles from Lazar and James Halverson.

Lazar and Halverson each had an assist for two points and Stocker added two helpers.

The Copperheads are back in action Thursday afternoon in a second-versus-third clash of the South when the Cubs pay a visit to the Coaldale Sportsplex at 4:30 p.m.

Coaldale heads to Vulcan Friday to take on the Lakers and returns home Saturday to host the Strathmore Wheatland Kings at 8:30 p.m.
