Hurricanes welcome the Oil Kings to town

By Lethbridge Herald on November 26, 2021.

After taking one point off the Regina Pats, the Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the Enmax Centre tonight looking for two.

It’ll be a daunting task as the nationally-ranked and Central Division-leading Edmonton Oil Kings come calling in Western Hockey League play tonight at 7 p.m.

The Canes come into tonight’s game off a tough 3-2 overtime loss to the Pats in which Lethbridge battled back from an early 2-0 deficit, but surrendered the game-winner to Regina’s Connor Bedard on the power play with one second left in overtime.

The overtime loss puts the Hurricanes at 7-10-1-0 and into a tie for eighth place with the Swift Current Broncos in a jam-packed Eastern Conference.

The Oil Kings are on an eight-game undefeated streak (7-0-1-0) and in second place in the East, seven points back of the 20-1-0-0 Winnipeg Ice.

Overage forward Justin Hall leads the Canes in goals (seven) and points (23). Alex Thacker has also hit the 20-point mark (three goals, 17 assists) in 18 games.

Dylan Guenther leads the Oil Kings with 11 goals and 24 points in 30 games.

Since returning from the St. Louis Blues, Jake Neighbours has one goal and seven points in five games.

The Hurricanes complete a four-game home stand next Friday when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings.
