The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns swimming team got the Canada West Championship off on a record-breaking note Friday.

The Horns are in Edmonton at the University of Alberta as action continues today and tomorrow.

On opening day Friday, first-year Pronghorn Apollo Hess continued to break records, this one in the 50m breaststroke, breaking the Canada West meet record by .8 seconds.

Meanwhile, teammate Chris Alexander won the silver medal in the 50m backstroke and the Pronghorns qualified six swimmers for the finals (a top-eight finish).
