Locals heading to Junior Team selection camp

By Lethbridge Herald on December 2, 2021.

Lethbridge’s Ridly Greig and Mike Dyck are headed back to the Canadian National Junior Team Selection camp.
Greig, a forward and captain with the Brandon Wheat Kings and a prospect of the Ottawa Senators is among 35 players and 21 forwards selected for the Canadian camp, which begins Dec. 9 in Calgary, while Dyck, the head coach of the Vancouver Giants, is back as one of three assistant coaches.
Also among the invited is Everett Silvertips Ronan Seeley, 19, who played with the Lethbridge Midget AAA Hurricanes of the Alberta Midget Hockey League in 2017-28, scoring five goals and 31 points in 30 games.
A total of 15 Western Hockey League players are among the camp invitees.
Greig, 19, has 12 goals and 23 points in 16 games with the Wheat Kings this season.
In 160 games in Brandon, he has 62 goals and 151 points.
He attended last year’s selection camp, but a positive COVID test limited his time at the camp.
Greig was selected in the first round and 28th overall by the Senators in the 2020 NHL draft.
Dyck was named head coach of the Giants in 2018.
This season the Giants are 10-7-1-0 and in fifth place in the Western Conference.
In 19 games in Everett this season, Seeley – who hails from Olds – has six goals and 21 points.
This year’s World Junior Championship runs Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer.
Team Canada opens the tournament Dec. 26 when they take on the Czech Republic.
