High school basketball season tips off

The Southern Alberta Interscholastic Administrative Council’s Southern Alberta High School Basketball League tipped off last week.
In action Monday night, the LCI Clippers girls’ varsity team defeated the Cardston Cougars 83-67, while the Raymond Comets topped Medicine Hat High School 98-31.
LCI also won the junior varsity game over Cardston 58-45 and Raymond topped Medicine Hat 62-50.
In varsity action on Thursday, the Comets downed the Taber W.R. Myers Rebels 120-24, while the Comets JV team posted an 86-27 win over Taber.
In the early-going of the season, the Comets varsity and JV girls jump to a quick 2-0 start.
Boys’ action took the court last Wednesday as the Cardston Cougars defeated the Catholic Central Cougars 117-62.
The Cardston JV boys also won, downing Catholic Central 79-46.
Boys’ action continued Tuesday night as the Catholic Central visited Chinook to take on the Coyotes, the Comets headed to Medicine Hat and the Magrath Zeniths hosted the LCI Clippers.
In girls play Tuesday, the Rebels were in Cardston to face the Cougars.
Girls play continues tonight when the Magrath Pandas travel to Taber to take on the Rebels.
League play on both the boys and girls side resumes Dec. 14.
