A pair of southern Alberta hockey players have landed on the NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings ahead of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Lethbridge’s Rylen Roersma, a forward with the Brandon Wheat Kings and goaltender Ty Young, the Coaldale native playing for the Prince George Cougars, are among 53 WHL players named to the list.

Roersma is ranked 99th among North American skaters, while Young is 21st among North American goaltenders.

In 41 games with the Wheat Kings this year, Roersma has 12 goals and 20 points in 41 games. The five-foot-11, 181-pound centre who was selected in the first round and 16th overall by the Wheaties in the 2019 WHL bantam draft will turn 18 July 25.

Young, who will turn 18 Sept. 11, has posted a 2-4-1-0 record with the Cougars this season to go along with a 4.16 goals against average and an .888 save percentage.

Young was selected by the Cougars in the eighth round and 158th overall in the 2019 WHL bantam draft.
