Canes fall to Blades in overtime

Saskatoon Blades’ Brandon Lisowsky scored his second goal of the night with 30 seconds to go in overtime to defeat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-3 on Wednesday night.
It was the Blades that opened the scoring on a powerplay goal from Jayden Wiens at 11:40 of the first period after the ‘Canes Joel Arntsen took a hooking penalty at 11:08.
Lethbridge defenceman Chase Pauls tied the game up as he found the back of the net at 17:01 of the opening frame.
The Blades gained the lead back as Josh Pillar buried his chance at 18:31 to give the home side a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
This will be a game that the Hurricanes’ Trae Wilke will remember for a long time as he scored his first Western Hockey League goal in his first game at the 10:35 mark of the second in his hometown.
Saskatoon went up 3-2 just 2:41 into the third as Lisowsky notched his 29th goal of the season.
Liekit Reichle evened the game at three with his first as a Hurricane at 6:07 of the third and ending a 31-game goalless drought.
The ‘Canes pick up a point in the loss and now have a record of 23-26-3-1.
The Blades outshot the Hurricanes 41-32 in the game.
Saskatoon went 1-for-5 on the powerplay and the Hurricanes went 0-for-2 on the man advantage.
Lethbridge is now 2-2-1 on the seven-game road trip.
The Hurricanes will continue their East Division swing against the Regina Pats on Friday at 6 p.m. MT.
