Magrath and Raymond crowned at High School Basketball Zones

Local-area high school basketball teams had successful results this past weekend at Southern Alberta Interscholastic Administrative Council (SAIAC) Zone championships.
The No.1 seeded Magrath Zeniths defended home court by knocking off No. 2 seeded Cardston 91-77 in the 4A boys’ gold medal game on Saturday night.
Medicine Hat won the third-place game 80-64 over Raymond.
As for the 4A girls final, the Raymond Comets beat Magrath 72-65 on home court.
Catholic Central beat Medicine Hat 48-46 to take home third place
The provincial championship are from March 17-19 at Lethbridge’s Catholic Central High School East and West, LCI and Chinook High School as well as in Cardston, Raymond and Magrath.
The boys final will be played on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Cardston High School and the girls final will go Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Raymond.

The Magrath junior varsity boys beat Medicine Hat 94-82 for the gold medal on Friday.
Raymond defeated LCI 75-69 for the junior varsity girls title.
