Elks drop opener at State Tournament

The Lethbridge American Legion Elks AA baseball team lost their State Tournament opener 17-7 to the Helena Senators in Billings on Wednesday.

Lethbridge saw a 7-5 lead slip away in third inning as the Senators got 10 runs with two outs in the bottom half of the inning.

Dave Stewart took the loss in relief of Jaxon Filipenko.

The lone bright spot for Lethbridge was a Zach Lyon grand slam early in the game.

With the loss, the Elks have dropped to the ‘B’ side to play the loser of the Billings/Kalispell game at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
