Nick Tetz from Calgary swept the Professional Bull Riding competition this weekend at the Enmax Centre, winning the second iteration of the South Country Co-op Showdown with a perfect 2-for-2.

Tetz collected a maximum of 80 national points, raising him into the number two slot for the battle of 2022 PBR Canada Champion, 28 points of the top rank.

The event was presented by VisitLethbridge.com and Ritchie Bros. seeing audiences roar with cheers as riders from around the globe competed. The bulls were bucking hard and the thrill was electric. S Tetz was hot off his career-first Cup Series victory Friday, returning for another flawless victory on Saturday.

Friday’s victory got the adrenaline pumping for Tetz, fresh off his win that rose him from the number eight slot to six, his victory Saturday would skyrocket that position again.

As the last man to leave the chutes, Tetz had plenty of time to assess the competition and know what he needed to win. He reached the requisite 8 aboard the powerful animal for 86.5 points. Tetz then elected to go head-to-head with bull Deep Creek as his final opponent. Matching the animal jump for jump, he reached the whistle, however the call went into an immediate official’s review. After careful scrutiny, the 2018 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year was awarded a score, an event-best, 88 points to clinch the finish.

Tetz will now seek his career-first PBR Canada Championship this November in Edmonton. Following a weekend that saw him rise from eight to second in Canada, those odds look very promising.

Collectively across the two-night event Tetz placed first with a maximum of 80 points, Blake Smith coming in second with 61 points, and Cody Coverchuck earning 42 points.

The event was bumped due to the COVID-19 pandemic from its usually slot in March, with riders happy to hear the sounds of fans cheering them on.
