Horns, Kodiaks have road success

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s  and Lethbridge College basketball teams had successful weekends on the road.

The U of L women’s team picked up two wins at Brandon University on the weekend and bring their record back to 3-3 on the season.

In the 82-52 victory on Friday, Jessica Haenni led the way with 18 points, followed by Kyra Collier with 17 points and Haily Weaver with 16 points.

Weaver and Abby Graves had 11 rebounds each.

Haenni had a hay day in the paint in Saturday’s 84-45 win, as she put up 32 points and five assists and Graves had 12 rebounds to lead the way in that category.

The men’s team dropped both of their games in Brandon by scores of 101-74 and 90-73 respectively and their record now sits at 1-5.

Jeff Rodehutskors had 15 points, followed by Kevin Ibula’s 11 points and Jack-Henry Fox Grey’s 10 points that  highlighted the team’s point total in Friday’s game.

Rodehutskors 16 points, Angelo Mbituyimana’s 13 points and Avery Hutcheson’s 11 points contributed to the  Horns offence  on Saturday.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s team is a perfect  8-0 on the season after two road wins on the weekend.

LC edged The King’s University 81-79 on Friday.

Christopher Schlauwitz led the way for the Kodiaks with 18 points, followed by Taylor Barfuss’s 13 points and Mason Hofman’s 10 points, while Adyn Card putting up 14 points and Filip Karanovic drained 10 points off the bench.

The Kodiaks followed Friday’s performance with an 82-77 win over Concordia University of Edmonton on Saturday

Paycen Blackmore had 19 points, Karanovic drained 11 points and Barfuss had 13 points off the bench in the win.

As for the women’s side, they split their games with a 90-74 win at TKU on Friday and lost 79-58 on Saturday at Concordia.

Tylee Leavitt drained 26 points and Kitawna Sparks had 20 points to lead LC’s attack in the win.

Courtney Deemter had 18 points and Sparks had 12 points in the loss.

The women’s record sits at 6-2.
