Hurricanes tame Broncos in a shootout

On Teddy Bear Toss night in Swift Current, the Lethbridge Hurricanes extended their win streak to four games after beating the Broncos 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night.

The Broncos’ Raphael Pelletier notched the Teddy Bear Toss goal just 1:22 into the contest, as he went down the right wing and  beat Hurricanes goaltender Harrison Meneghin low glove side.

Jett Jones tapped in a Logan Wormald pass back door to tie the game at one just 29 seconds into the second period.

Tyson Laventure gave the Canes a 2-1 lead at the 11 minute mark of the second period, as he was able to shove the puck past Gage Alexander for his ninth of the season.

Swift Current’s Mathew Ward shot the puck through a crowd from the point to tie the game at two at the 3:20 mark of the third period.

Braeden Lewis would give the Broncos a 3-2 lead at 6:13 of third period as he pounced on a tipped puck in the slot and put it home.

Laventure pounced on a Tyson Zimmer rebound to tie the game at 18:33 of the third period.

Zimmer and Noah Chadwick scored in the shootout to win the game for the Hurricanes.

Lethbridge improved its record to 18-11-0-1 with the win.

The Hurricanes will face off against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday night at the Enmax Centre.
