Judo Club has historic performance at Canada Winter Games

For the first time in its history, the Lethbridge Judo Club’s athletes brought medals home from the Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island last week.

The first day saw Charlize Medilo win the gold medal in the 48-kilogram class followed by Addyson Tamura winning bronze in the same division.

Loic Beaton took home gold in the 55-kilogram class, Connor Hazell won silver in the 50-kilogram competition,

Aden Kim earned a bronze medal in the 60-kilogram category and Troy Gallant won bronze in the 66-kilogram category.

The second day saw Callie Render bring home silver in the 63-kilogram, Aliya Koliaska  won bronze in the 57-kilogram class and Maralagoo Batbayer rounded out Lethbridge’s medals with a bronze in the 70-kilogram competition.

The boys team won bronze and the girls took home silver and the team events.

Meanwhile, the Team Alberta female hockey team were shut out in their quarter-final game 3-0 by Quebec on Friday.

The team that also consists of Lethbridge’s Summer Fomradas and Kendal Davidson got fifth place after beating Saskatchewan 6-2 on Saturday.
