Most semi-finals determined at South Zone Championships

The third day saw semi-final games be determined at the senior high school basketball 1A and 2A South Zone Championships on Wednesday at Lethbridge College.

On the 1A boys side, St. Mary’s-Taber booked their ticket to the semi-finals after beating St. Michael’s- Bow Island 78-61.

St. Mary’s will play Coaldale Christian in the one semi-final on Friday at 6:40 p.m.

Coaldale Christian crushed Noble Central 105-24 in their quarter-final game.

St. Michael’s-Pincher Creek and Taber Christian will play in the other semi-final on Friday (5 p.m> after wins on Wednesday night.

The 1A girls semi-finals will see Stirling versus Picture Butte and Vauxhall versus St. Mike’s Pincher Creek on Thursday after those spots were determined earlier in the week.

The 2A girls draw saw Coaldale’s Kate Andrews beat Willow Creek 78-49 on Wednesday night in their quarter-final game.

Kate Andrews will face WR Myers in a Friday semi-final at 8:20 p.m.

WR Myers defeated FP Walshe 79-28 earlier on Wednesday evening.

Immanuel Christian earned a semi-final berth on Tuesday after defeating Kainai 70-24.

IC will tip-off against JT Foster at 5 p.m. on Friday in the other semi-final.

The 2A boys quarterfinals will be played today.

Those games will see Kate Andrews play FP Walshe, Coalhurst versus Kainai, Stirling tip-off versus Willow Creek and WR Myers play Immanuel Christian.

The 4A South Zone Championship will continue at the University of Lethbridge’s 1st Choice Savings Centre today with semi-finals.

The senior varsity girls will see LCI play Magrath (3 p.m.) and Cardston battle Raymond at 5 p.m.

The boys semi-finals will have Cardston play Raymond (7 p.m.) and Medicine Hat against Magrath at 9 p.m.

Games were played at individual schools earlier in the week
