The Evergreen Golf Centre is just not your typical Par-3 course, as there are other unique technological features to help golfers with their games.

“We like to say we’re a facility that we can educate and equip the golfer,” said Kevin Hamilton, Evergreen managing partner.

“But also we’re a facility that allows you just to come out and play and on an entertainment basis.”

Evergreen tries to build on the golfer’s experience by keeping the facility in good condition and find new ways to do fittings with different technologies.

It was most recently the course purchased a SAM PuttLab.

“To give you an example, we were in Orlando for the golf show, and we ended up buying (what is) called a SAM PuttLab, which is Science and Motion,” said Hamilton.

“It’s a putting lab that allows us to track your putting stroke and allows us to dial you in a fit   with a putter. I think there might be one only in Alberta. So we’re kind of trying to be on the leading edge of the technology.”

Another unique features is Top Tracer, which the course has had since 2019.

“Top Tracer is a technology that traces or tracks the ball and gives you data on your ball flight, such as ball speed (and) ball direction,” said Hamilton.

“You can also play a simulated game — a virtual game of golf on it — or you can play target games. So you can play our closest to the pin (or) longest drive competition. So it gives you a number of options from a recreational point to work on your game or entertainment base.”

Calgary has recently developed two Launchpad facilities that use the Top Tracer technology and  includes a restaurant and larger bays that can include more social outings.

“We’re hoping to move ahead with the same thing in 2024,” said Hamilton on a new Top tracer facility.

“We’re hoping to have a new building set up as well.”

Evergreen has plans in place and are in the midst of finalizing them and hope to start construction this fall.

Golfers can also hit the simulators and have the option of getting customized club fitting in the process.

The course features a heated driving range which is good for players to hit balls in minus 10 Celsius or warmer.

“And so what that does is it does take the edge off and you can hit it out into the range still, so you’re not hitting into a net which is a big advantage ,” said Hamilton.

The focus for the 2023 season is to continue their strong customer service and the development of the Top Tracer lounge.
