Canes beat Hitmen in OT

Anton Astashevich scored 2:04 into overtime to give the Lethbridge Hurricanes a 3-2 road preseason win over the Calgary Hitmen on Thursday night.

Tristen Doyle got the assist on the OT marker.

Miguel Marques opened the scoring for Lethbridge from Tyson Zimmer and Kooper Gizowski at 6:56 of the opening frame.

The Hitmen tied the game up 2:22 into the second period when Matteo Danis scored from Sawyer Mayes.

Gizowski scored to give the Canes a 2-1 lead at the 8:02 mark of the second.

Marques and Will Sharpe collected the helpers on the marker.

Calgary tied the game at 16:07 of the second when Chase Valliant found the back the net from Danis and Reese Hamilton to conclude the scoring in regulation.

It was the Canes first victory of the preseason.

Lethbridge concludes the preseason tonight against the Red Deer Rebels at 6 p.m. at the Enmax Centre.
