Golden Hawks, U17AAAs soar to weekend wins

The Val Matteoti Golden Hawks U15AAA hockey team notched their sixth win of the season after edging the Calgary Northstars 3-2 at home on Sunday.

Landon Ward, Briggs Fabro and Lincoln Eaves scored in the win.

Lucas Pasemko stopped 32-of-34 shots in the Golden Hawks crease.

The U15AAAs will wrap up play before Christams with two home games this weekend on Friday against the Calgary Flames NWCAA at 7:15 p.m. and on Sunday against the Fort Saskatchewan Lancers at 2:45 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

U17AAA

The Headwater Hurricanes were also victorious on the weekend after thumping the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers 6-2 on Saturday.

Dane Creighton led the Canes attack with a hat trick and an assist, while Cohen Zasadney, Karter Russell and Ryder Fomradas had a goal in the win.

The U17AAAs will end play before the Christmas break with a road game against the Calgary Northstars on Saturday before hosting the Calgary Bulls on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. at the Logan Boulet Arena.
