The Lethbridge Bulls are gearing up for the most popular day in their schedule each yearย with the Canada Day doubleheader at Spitz Stadium on Monday.
American player Scott Hansen will be experiencing his first Canada Day game.
โIโm really excited for Canada Day,โ said Hansen.
โAll the guys, they talk about it, itโs their favourite day of theย year. Iโm excited to see all the faces in the stands, really excited to watch some Bulls baseball and excited for the festivities after the game and everything.โ
Hansen seesย baseball as a sport that brings people together.
โIt brings a lot of people together and I think this is one of those days where it happens,โ said Hansen.
โEveryone wants to be outside, watch some fun baseball and just enjoy the night.โ
There is a simple thing Hansen would like to enjoy about the day.
โHopefully two wins,โ said Hansen.
Local Bulls player Josh Kabayama has played on this day for a few seasons.
โIt brings a lot of life and a lot (of) energy to the ball park and the fans are usually pretty good,โ said Kabayama.
Kabayama was asked about the pride the players take from Canada Day games.
โI think especially the Canadian guys,โ said Kabayama.
โCanada Dayโs something thatโs pretty cool. Iโve enjoyed playing (on) Canada Day every single year and it gets loud and yeah I guess it is a prideful day.โ
Carlin Dick doesnโt see the game plan changing for the doubleheader.
โIt doesnโt take much to get jacked up for that game,โ said Dick.
โSo just having that mindset, (and) going out there and playing the same game that weโve played all year and had success with, and using that excitement from the crowd to help us even more.โ
The fans bring more excitement to the day.
โThereโs a lot of excitement, thereโs a lot of cheering, thereโs some chirping, itโs all good things,โ said Dick.
โI canโt say enough about the crowd in Lethbridge. I canโt wait for them to be out there and have their full support because theyโre a great crowd.โ
The Canada Day doubleheader on Monday against the Sylvan Lake Gulls begins with the first game at 2:05 p.m. followed by the second game at 7:35 p.m.
Fans that attend the late game will be able to go on the field to watch the fireworks afterwards.
