Now is the time for Premier Smith to ask the RCMP to investigate

By Lethbridge Herald on February 21, 2025.

Dear Editor,

The UCP have been huddled for the last week planning how to divert attention away from the AHS scandal and select their scapegoat.

No one believes for a moment that a Deputy minister, a bureaucrat, would act independent of the Minister or Premier’s wishes. It will be musical chairs within government to see who is left standing when the music stops.

One thing however is still clear and that is that the Premier is responsible for her government. A Premier with principals and integrity would take responsibility and offer her resignation if her government was found to be crooked.

Now is the time for Smith to ask the RCMP to investigate. Failing to do so will ultimately lead to the conclusion that she has something to hide and would rather stick handle her way through this and continue to hood wink the public. What else might she try a cover up.

Alf now it is a civil shut. RCMP do NOT investigate civil matters. If someone comes forward or evidence of a criminal offence bubbles up then the RCMP will investigate. Know the process.

So explain why they investigated the UCP when there was enough proof that they had handled the election improperly and were fined thousands of dollars by Election Alberta?

Sheran.

And wait until Elections Alberta investigates the NDP for issues in the Lethbridge by-election!

For something didn’t happen. On the other hand, the UCP did cheat to get into power.

Meanwhile, this shows how Take Back Alberta, who control the UCP and Danielle Smith, were given over $100,000 in fines for election related infractions. It also shows how the UCP were given fines for election related infractions, which totalled around $200,000. The former so called “premier” of Alberta went away to Texas on a useless jaunt, and fired the Alberta Elections Commissioner, Lorne Gibson, and his entire staff, who were investigating his leadership race and issued the fines to the UCP members for not following election rules.

Where are this issues when the former conservative MLAs had nothing but praise for what she was doing? Give us a list?

Sheran.

I think we should wait until Auditor General’s review before taking the valuable manpower away for the RCMP for political reasons.
Many are busy wringing their hands and salivating, thinking they have found the ammunition to bring down the Premier, and it isn’t even a provincial election year! The RCMP can be called in of the Auditor General and the lawsuit finds wrong doing.

So why do you support these Reformers who gave you the highest power bills in Canada, the highest property taxes, the highest vehicle registration fees, the highest vehicle insurance premiums, the highest provincial taxes when Klein created the 10% flat tax and you are still paying the forth highest. Then there is the highest fees for new drivers and liquor prices.
Smith wasted $75 million on cold medicine, $2.2 million on her pal Preston Manning, and god only knows what she paid Jim Dinning for helping try to steal our Canada Pension Plan. Then after these Reformers wasted $59 million on the hospital in south Edmonton she has shut the project down and there is this wasting Billions on these Private For Profit clinic stupidity she finds herself in, with no way out. Can you prove that I am wrong?

Fedup Conservative

Peter the fact that she is refusing to hold a Public Inquiry proves to us that she is guilty and the fact that she refuses to disclose the results of the survey they took concerning the Alberta Pension Plan proves she can’t be trusted, doesn’t it?
