Editor,
Danielle Smith, I never voted for your predecessor as he was a poor choice for me as an MLA. I decided to vote for you as you presented a ray of light in the party. It did not take long for my hopes to be dashed by you and your policies.Â
You seem to be entrenched in big oil’s back pocket with little or no regard to our future generations. That may be due to the fact that you have no children or grandchildren of your own and cannot see what your policies are doing to destroy the environment and our children’s future. You put a moratorium on wind and solar energy exploration. An intelligent premier would understand that they can all coexist to the benefit of all Albertans.Â
A forward thinking premier would also put nuclear power in the forefront of any energy plans for Alberta. You on the other hand have no plan. Your decision to support the dismissal of an AHS member whistle blower, who accused you and your govt of illegal contracts will become your downfall. The person you should have dismissed was LaGrange.Â
You are the one who stoked the fires about Alberta separating but have since said you do not support separation. Too little too late now that you have stoked those fires. When it comes to inviting far right MAGA individuals to Alberta or attending meetings with those same like minded persons, you show your true colours.Â
You will not get my vote again, unless you show me that you are deeply concerned about our children and their future environment; Start aggressively supporting nuclear, wind and solar energy; Keep your hands off our CPP and last but not least, let the federal government deal with other countries.Â

The lack of respect these Reformers have shown our children and grandchildren is very disturbing to the true conservatives in my life and that goes for Pierre Poilievre also.
His disgusting display as leader of our beloved Conservative Party gave us good reason to want him kicked out and thankfully the citizens of Ottawa felt the same way. You can bet the mindless Albertans will ignore his stupidity.
He has proven time and time again there is nothing Conservative about him and like his pal Danielle Smith wasting taxpayers money is of no concern to them. Completely going against what we would expect from true conservatives like we saw from our hero Peter Lougheed.
While collecting proper oil royalties and corporate taxes he treated us all with dignity and respect and funded our healthcare, and education systems properly along with our municipalities keeping our property taxes at reasonable levels like we are seeing in Alaska and Norway.
After spending 32 years with the Royal Bank working in 16 different branches throughout Alberta , including Lethbridge , and being a manager of 7 of them I can honestly say I think these Reformers have deliberately destroyed our children and grandchildren’s future and I can’t see any way of paying the massive debts they have created for them and what Global Warming could bring them, do you?
All the lawyers, accountants, economists, oilmen, fellow bankers and former conservative and social credit MLAs I have spoken with over the years agree with me. We could see what was happening to our family members future and these Reformers and their mindless supporters didn’t care.
Who do we blame for creating this mess? Mindless, gullible Albertans, who are unable to use good old fashioned Common Sense and unfortunately are mainly our fellow seniors.
It’s no secret that young Albertans don’t have the time or care for what’s happening in politics and voting the way their parents and grandparents do has been the norm, and as some have total me that’s been a huge mistake.
Voting for the word conservative has created the mess we are in.
There is no way these Reformers should have been allowed to create this “Horrific Mess” as Peter Lougheed called it and it’s our young family members future we are concerned about, aren’t you?
Did you actually just accuse Premier Smith of not caring about future generations simply because she has no children? I fail to see what difference that makes. Her reproductive choices are her own, a private, personal matter that is not open to anyone else’s scrutiny. Shame on you for even bringing it up. This is Canada, where women’s reproductive choices are none of your damned business.
Not that I am standing up for Smith. I have nothing good to say about this person. Nothing. So I’ll keep it to myself.
But assuming that a woman without children is incapable of having empathy for future generations is the height of misogyny. How dare you?!?!?? Upon what evidence do you base this unsubstantiated , ridiculous opinion?
In trying to insult Smith, you have just insulted every other Canadian woman who has made her own reproductive choices. That is not Canadian. Full stop. That sounds a lot more like something a Yank would say. Certainly it has echoes of “Under His Eye”…
I’d certainly enjoy hearing you say such things to MY face. I didn’t have kids either. Go on. Accuse me of a lack of empathy. I dare you. Fair warning, I’d mop the floor with your outdated, sexist opinion in a debate. If it wasn’t Sunday morning as I write this, I’d be more inclined to tear your opinion to shreds. Instead, I just ask you to apologize to every Canadian woman who might have read this.
It would be the decent thing to do. And after you have made amends, a good, hard, long rethink of your outdated notions regarding a woman’s reproductive choices is in order. This is 2025. This is Canada. We don’t act like that here. Do better.
It’s got nothing to do with the fact that she has no children, she has no good old fashion common sense either and there has never been anything Conservative about her. She a Reformer through and through. Who doesn’t give a damn about anyone other than herself, her Reform Party friends and the oil rich. While she is ignoring what Global Warming is doing to the planet she finds no concern for wasting billions of dollars of taxpayers money in true Reform Party fashion and continues to cheat Albertans out of their oil and corporate tax wealth while Alaskans and Norwegians continue to reap the benefits of their’s. We know Albertans have lost $1.2 trillion dollars because of this Reform Party Stupidity started by their pal Ralph Klein whom I had known since 1960 when we were both 17 and I knew what a jerk he was.
This is the same woman who was fired by a conservative government as a school board trustee in Calgary in 1999, for promoting the privatization of Education in Alberta, in ignoring what it would do to the cost of living to Albertan.
She was defeated by Conservatives under Allison Redford when she campaign on privatization of healthcare and education as leader of the Wildrose Pary and was defeated again in 2015 by the NDP when she found it smart to walk the floor with 8 of her Wildrose Reform Party members and join Jim Prentice Conservative Party and it got them all defeated. She was also defeated once again in 2015 in her own riding of High River – Okotoks when she tried to become their conservative candidate with the people knowing there was nothing conservative about her.
So the big question is why would Rural Alberta fools like Jack Colwill even give her a chance to ruin us completely when her political record was so bad and the answer is simple? Once more we see Common Sense ignored by fools who don’t have any.
My late father, the strongest Conservative I ever knew, had it right, these mindless Albertans vote for the word Conservative because they know how good Lougheed was and ignore the fact that these are not Conservatives.
They are Reformers and are out to destroy everything good Lougheed stood for and don’t give a damn about the future of this province or the people in it. Only themselves, their Reform Party friends and the rich. Treating the people like morons is exactly what they are doing, so why are Albertans allowing them to do it?
Like the American Oilmen that I was involved with who were working in Alberta those of us who have family members in other provinces think we are idiots can you blame them?
What you said is correct. My dad, who is 95, very soon, told me once how clever Ralph Klein thought he was, buy buying votes before a provincial election in Alberta. Danielle Smith is the same way. We still see oil royalty rates and corporate tax rates at very low levels, the most costliest debacles, while essential services and infrastructure aren’t properly looked after. How foolish can people get?
Oilmen point out that our oil royalties and corporate taxes are the lowest in the world that’s how stupid Albertans are, aren’t they?
Oilmen continue to point out all the lies Albertans have been fed about the oil well cleanup mess that we were warned could cost our children and grandchildren $260 Billion. They are now stating the cost will likely double as articles suggest. When I was involved with it for8years under Lougheed and Getty they made the oil industry pay for the cleanup and Danielle Smith’s hero Ralph Klein changed all that to benefit the oil industry like Smith and Poilievre want to do by completely destroying the Carbon Tax and allowing to oil industry to pollute as much as they want to’ They don’t care about the health issues it will bring, and Global Warming. That’s how stupid they are, isn’t it?
Add in the $85 billion debt these Reformers have created, millions in back taxes owed to municipalities and the idiots and their mindless supporters are still willing to risk destroying our water supply with coal mining. They don’t care that the Coal Industry has been fined $60 million for polluting the water in B.C, and Montana. They just don’t care. Road workers tell us an additional $20 billion is needed for proper road repair and bridge repair.
So maybe Jack Coldwill and all these mindless fellow seniors along with these Rural Albertans who are so proud of voting for the word Conservative can explain to us former Bankers, Oilmen, Accountants, Economists, Lawyers. and former Conservative and Social Credit MLAs where all this money is going to come from because we can’t .
You had your fun hurling your sarcastic comments at anyone not as stupid as you are, haven’t you? Now try to explain it to your children and grandchildren about how your stupidity destroyed their future. I bet you can’t.
Those of us who have spent time in Alaska and Norway know how happy they are with what their oil wealth has done for them and we could have had the same. That was Lougheed’s wish and you blew it, congratulations. You are the dumbest people on the planet like the American Oilmen stated, aren’t you?
In Norway and Alaska, they didn’t waste their oil money on very costly debacles, and there is no major problems with homelessness. In Alaska, people get annual dividends from their oil wealth, while the Conservatives in Alberta did an excellent job of destroying what Peter Lougheed had created for us.
Exactly and these idiots allowed these Reformers do it to us. You can bet these idiots will re-elect Pierre Poilievre also, that’s how stupid they are.
To show you how stupid they are Alaskans have $80 billion in their savings account and every man, women and child has received $52,000. in total annual dividend cheques since 1982 that’s how stupid Albertans are. They could have had the same. But the idiots refused to listen to what they are being told. Couldn’t these mindless seniors have used an additional $104,000. for their retirement?
Norwegians pay nothing for education or healthcare, including prescription drugs, and University Students pay no tuition fees. Instead they are paid $1,000.per month to go to school, that’s how stupid the situation is. Norway has $1.4 trillion in their savings account, yet Alberta produces twice as much oil as the other two combined.
Alberta has $21 billion in their savings accounts and every man, woman and child has received a pathetic $1,000. and their children and grandchildren face a $585. Billion debt and a $20 billion deficit that’s stupid Albertans are, isn’t it?
I am sure you meant to say “ Rachael Notely and the NDP squandered away millions of dollars in their short disastrous term in office, the UCP are thankfully recovering us from that fiasco”!
Give a list of where the NDP wasted millions of dollars when those of us from the world of finance know she didn’t. The financial statement we saw proved she didn’t and the former Conservative MLAs we spoke with had nothing but praise for what she was doing.
Are you calling former Conservative MLA Allan Warrack a liar in this article he wrote?
“Rachael Notley Led Like Lougheed” and other Conservative MLAs we spoke with agreed, so why have you believed the lies these Reformers have fed you?
Once more we have these handful of deniers , likely seniors, with their heads in the sand too stupid to understand what’s happened to their oil wealth while Alaska and Norway continue to enjoy their’s that’s how stupid they are, isn’t it? Their stupidity has taken all of us with them that’s how stupid they are.
They can’t provide any details, because they know it never happened.
You have a very short memory.

Alpac, Novatel, metal smelting plants, pulp and paper mills, like Daishowa and Miller West Pulp, Swan Hills, trying to salvage a sinking shopping mall (West Edmonton Mall), on a failed farmer’s aid fund, on a disability payment debacle, on consolidation of paramedic dispatch services in Alberta, the well over $30 billion electricity deregulation debacle, the $10 billion Power Purchase Agreements debacle, on carbon sequestration, on luxury sky palaces, on pricey plane flights, which were full of empty seats, a mega billion dollar lawsuit ploy against the tobacco companies, blew $35 billion on a bitumen upgrader debacle, losing Alberta $150 billion in added revenue, from bad tax policies, left Albertans with a mammoth bill of $260 billion to remediate messes left behind by the oil companies in Alberta, left Alberta with an infrastructure debt that is now nearly $30 billion, or even more, has absolutely nothing to do with the NDP in Alberta. You seem to be mistaken. I can provide a list of who wasted the money in Alberta, but you cannot.
The UCP lost well over $10 billion from corporate tax cuts, which didn’t produce a single new hire. The UCP blew well over $7 billion on a pipeline bet gone bad. The UCP lost $4 billion on a pension fund debacle. The UCP lost nearly $2 billion from the Heritage Savings Trust Fund, and lost even more money from that fund. The UCP lost $1.6 billion on an “accounting error”. The UCP borrowed $25 billion, without asking Albertans about it, and the UCP never revealed what they have used the money for. The UCP blew $3 billion and $13 billion on 2 very imbalanced “aid packages” for Alberta. The UCP blew billions in dollars trying to prop up the Alberta PCs $35 billion bitumen upgrader debacle. The UCP cost Albertans well over $100 billion, since June of 2020, with their economic witholding, power price gouging debacle. The UCP lost $4 billion, without any paper trail. The UCP has coal mining companies suing the UCP for nearly $4 billion, $10.8 billion, and $15 billion, for breaking contract agreements. The UCP blew billions of dollars on various voter bribery schemes. The UCP blew $80 million on Turkish Tylenol, which couldn’t be used. The UCP blew $20 billion on the R-Star debacle. The UCP caused the costs of the Green Line project in Calgary to swell to a staggering cost of $20 billion, and will try and blame someone else for it. The UCP blew well over $600 million on the Corrupt Care scandal, which the R.C.M.P are now investigating. The UCP blew $11 billion on loan guarantees. The UCP blew around $250,000 on new luxury carpeting. The UCP did many other very costly debacles besides these. Who was it that squandered Alberta’s revenue away?
