Drivers should understand the meaning of hazard lights

By Lethbridge Herald on July 12, 2025.

Editor:

I am writing this because I am disappointed with the actions of the drivers on Whoop-Up Drive (Sunday) tonight. A young lady hit a deer on the east-bound lane which I then ran over. I had no time to react.  She pulled off to the side of the road and put her hazard lights on. I went past her and had to double back to render any assistance. Thank God she was OK when I came back. I am disappointed with the fact that no one stopped, except for one lady who thought she had working safety equipment to prevent further accidents.

But no one stopped, they continued to go on by at a high rate of speed. When you see multiple sets of hazard lights please slow down and move over!

There is a reason people have them on. Everyone is in such a rush these days.

It is not worth someone’s life for you to rush to wherever you are going. Please everyone take the time to be safe, because a life is worth more than the minute you gain because you feel the need to rush to get where you are going.

The life that you save might be yours!

Thank you.
